Funny you should say that -several of us were commenting today that Herbert is a lot bigger lad than we realised. Interesting observation about him being more a 13...not so far-fetched as it might first sound. Hmm...

Perhaps not but i just find it weird how he was clearly one of our best players vs leeds and hasnt played since. Seems bit odd when its clear where missing his kicking and creativity

Lets get the Leeds game into perspective he played well for 40 minutes tops and he went AWOL that second half. Since recovering from injury he's had 2 poor run outs for the 20's a standard where he should have shone.

I confused him for Hargreaves at one point today. :/

As I said, I would truly love to be proved wrong and hope he makes me eat a large slice of humble pie! I think I've seen enough to form an opinion, he still has my support at the game but I don't see a quality scrum half in him.

Digressing, I was very proud of our Academy today, Whitehead, Donaldson, Olbison, Addy (my MoM), Burgess, Kopczack, Sykes (his best game), and even Karl Pryce!

Thought Addy livened us up after Diskin sent us to sleep, somebody made me laugh by saying we'd given him a 3 year deal, oh we did, doh!

Just use RER every one else does it's easier. As for the 13 role been thinking about that since preseason.

Tbh thought Herbert had his best game so far for us today. A HB is always going to take longer to settle. 4games is way too early to judge IMO .

Why is a HB going to take longer to settle in don't they train everyday with the rest of the squad.

Because they are more involved with the key plays. Just a general observation but halves tend to take longer to settle than Other players as it takes a while to get timing right. Don't ask me why but can't think of half who's come in and settled straight away for any team recently.

Not sure a neutral, reading some of the negative comments in posts above then reading the match report, would see what all the concern was about?

Herbert is fine as srcum half IMO. Not sure what all the criticism is about. Anything good we did yesterday came from him.

Lets give him a bit of time eh? He hasn't set the world alight so far, but he's only played four games upto now, and he has had a hand in quite a few tries that we have scored.

Brett Finch hasn't done much yet at Wigan, he's only played two games, but he is a halfback of proven quality.

The game is played differently over here and it does take halfbacks a bit more time to get used to the systems we use.

Pryce bumoed Herbert off at least twice with ease yesterday. Playing him at LF would be an absolute disaster.

Can't agree with all the slating of Herbert. I like the way he plays, getting stuck in all over the place. A quick read of the T&A report should show what he did for the team yesterday.

The guy sets up two tries and then we get this thread? I'm bemused. The bomb right onto the posts from 30m out was a fullbacks nightmare and the inside pass to Sykes was quality - we need more of that 10m out not dropping the guy doing it.

indeed, we have a creative scrum half who is setting up tries and his kicking game is improving week after week. a bit of a headscratcher when threads like this appear.

He's made a few handling errors and a few missed tackles but he's certainly not alone in doing that. But he is already top for try assists in the Bulls squad.

But he's not organising.

The jury is still out on Herbert but i've got to say so far i'm unimpressed. He does'nt really have any zip and his passing seems somewhat laboured at times, maybe he'll improve when he gets to play with a natural Stand Off (Briggs)
