If you purely base success on silverware, your appreciation of Rugby League and possibly other things in life is very "narrow"
Most Bulls supporters have fantastic memories of the team competing to win, many remember feelings of great pride when they might have even lost a close game to a better team on the day but sweated "blood" trying to win it for themseves & us.
Success can be measured in many ways including crowd numbers, atmosphere, empathy between the team & its supporters, games won etc etc and, of course, silverware!
[uBut[/u, to measure success purely on trophies is the thinking of a "glory hunter fan" not the true supporters who enjoy seeing their team improve in skills & confidence, who enjoy seeing the club's young players making their mark on the game and getting the game time they deserve and, of course, the thrill of seeing their team competing for major honours ~ None of which has happened under McNamara !!!!!!

Clinging to some tenuous "empathy between supporters" style measurement of success is weak. At best. Poor. Very, very poor.

The essence is the reference to Potter as "a winner" as a coach. I am still awaiting an explaination how that is the case given his resources and evidence to the contrary.

The board are going to have to be careful on any new appointment. I for one believe they need some much improved marketing and a coach who can communicate with the fans as well as players. I used to feel part of the Bulls team. These last few years I definitetely feel as if I am just a customer.

I personally know a couple of people who are unable to attend who have forgotten more about RL than most on here know, are they not entitled to a view either? Sure I agree that people who attend, see things with their own eyes and form their own judgement have more weight to their point and argument, but not to the total exclusion of all others who can't attend for whatever reason. If that were true then I suspect only about 25 Bradford fans could comment on the quins game last night.

ME often does not help himself, obviously, and has caused everyone to prejudge all his posts, if you automatically dismiss him then thats your business, but in this instance that was a fair question, how can multiple GF runnner up possibly be compared to the failure of multiple 9th place finishes? Even considering the relative resources available.

Potter has demonstrated more success (depending on the measure of course) than Mcnamara or Mcdermott IMHO.
And Im not a bowler of any description before you start and I'd be happy with either McDermott or Potter for different reasons.

The fact he rarely even watches the team in any guise invalidates his smug, crass and inaccurate observations.

Observations being crass and inaccurate would invalidate them. observations from off the terrace does not in itself invalidate them, whatever you might think of the person or point.

with their squad i would expect saints to be competing in finals and be around the top 3 in the league. they are/have been. quins and bulls with our squads i would expect mid table or slightly higher with a bit of luck and to be in the playoffs/have occational good cup runs. we are not meeting them expectations and have not done so for more than one season. why do you think mcd is so much better than potter?

I made it quite clear there was little between them.

McDermotts ability to make average players into better ones, particularly young players, sways my radar towards him. Not withstanding the references from the likes of Tony Smith.

Potter has arguably underachieved with his all-star squad.

I find it ironic how the moneyed Potter Allstars have just been stuffed at home by the rubbing rags, yet for some reason plenty on here are convinced that Potter would miraculously turn us into champions within a fortnight. How did Leeds go on? If they are getting great results maybe we should be after their never-lose-a-game coach?
