| The club is getting nearer and nearer to having to ask the question; Should we move away from Bradford?
Facing facts the club need to sort something out maybe not now, or in three years but before too long Odsal as it is now will stop the club from getting a super league licence.

It now seems that the plans for redevelopment of Odsal have been shelved because regardless of what is presetned the forward thinking council of Bradford say No '"
Where have you read that the plans have been shelved ? The council of Bradford have never said "no".
Maybe they should have but they certainly haven't as far as I've seen.
When the Council feels it can convince the the council tax payers and general public of Bradford that they should give £x million* towards improving the facilties of a private company and maybe throw away some recreational land** in the process then it would be all systems go.
* - £x million in addition to the needed replacement of Richard Dunns.
** - although it seems Horsfall is not included in the latest funding plans.

The backward thinking of the Bradford Council actually cost the re-development at NO cost to the Council Tax Payers (of which I am one). The whole site was proposed to be re-developed by a leading supermarket chain, putting in more retail outlets, but the Bradford Council scuppered this under their "town centre shopping policy" (that worked well over the last few years eh????)
The only real way forward is to sell the site and ground share with Bradford City. This was quite successful previously, when the Bulls moved out for the re-development to take place.
I am saying

Possibly the same way I do. With the miracle of modern technology and transport, I can get to Bradford in under 2 hours and manage to watch games on TV. (Not to mention the wonderful BCB coverage for games I can't get to)

At least get your facts right dude.
The Council passed the planning permission.
It was National Government ( Labour ) who scuppered the plans under their out of town non food planning policy.

I'm presuming you mean the supposed development back in 01/02 time?
That was scuppered by government policy, not Bradford council, due to government policy an enquiry had to take place (whether Morrisons objected or not BTW), and Tesco refused to fund or wait for it to be held.
Bradford Council are far from perfect, they are far from average, but they aren't the ones to blame all the time.

I actually think the behind the scenes facilities are reasonably decent now at Odsal. The toilets , catering, bars etc are perfectly acceptable. These are the main gripes at Knowsley Road.
The one great thing Odsal lacks is a roof it can be pretty wet at times ! I was soaked to the skin at the Saints game last season.
I remember the old grassy banks at Odsal and it has certainly come a long way since then.
I would take Odsal over the dreadful Valley Parade ( and its ' staff
)any day of the week.

Great news for them. Can't help wondering what was so different about the old Sterling Capitol plan that meant that had to be called in for an inquiry while this hasn't.
Again, glad for Saints but left wondering why it wasn't possible for us six years ago.

As much as I think all Tories should be shot at birth, apparently the new momentum is led by a senior councillor who has booted Hawksworth aside to make it happen. I'm sure it's nothing to do with his ambition to take on the rather wonderful Ann Cryer in Keighley at the next election, or p1ss on Gerry Sutcliffe's damascus chips. Gerry wont let Horsfall go. Richard Dunne's will have go to make the sums stack up, though I don't know the extent of its replacement. A new supermarket wasn't mentioned, but that's the last thing anywhere needs.

Supermarket was in the old one, FWIW, i think Tesco would quite happily build a brand new store, a lot of the things they want to put in Buttershaw they can't due to lack of space.
Maybe Sutcliffe should ask the people of South Bradford what they want? A lot of people when speaking to them would be happy to have a new pool, athletics etc as long as it is available like it is now to everyone. Richard Dunne's won't last much longer with or without Odsal redevelopment its falling a part by all accounts.

and yet still the Council approved the Tesco plans originally !!
Hopkins replaced Eaton not Hawksworth and Hawksworth is still on the Executive ( environment I think ).
If Hopkins thinks that getting the OSV through will help him win the Keighley seat then I'd ask AJ and the rest of Keighley townsfolk what they think
Oh and according to the latest report I don't think Horsfall is part of package anymore.

The out of town development elements of national planning policy changed not too long after I believe. It was the Tesco EXTRA store that scuppered it in the first place.

Hasn't the pool been dropped from the latest plans for the OSV due to "funding gaps" and also under the guise of a "strategic review" ?

Not sure, but with all this save the pools stuff that the T&A are pumping money into i'd be suprised if it has been dropped.
I'm sure we're losing Richard Dunnes anyway, maybe not replacing it though if what you say is right. But the state Richard Dunnes is apparently in regardless of what happens to Odsal it won't be around much longer as the costs to maintain it are too high.
