We are practising with no halves so that next year when Gaskell has gone and we have Leon in his place but he has gone AWOL in the game as he does we will know exactly what to do. I can see their thinking - very clever.

Both league fixtures in 2014. One goal in the first one at their place (23-10 to us on Feb 20th), two goals in the return fixture at Odsal (20-12 to us on Jun 1st). Crap both times as I recall.

I think Wakey had hoofed him by the time we got to play them in the two 2015 M8 fixtures. I don't have teams for those games cos I'm not as good at this as I prefer people to think.

It was his debut for them, but it was probably registration issues or summat Sammut related that prevented him from playing their first game against Salford.

Fwiw, without looking I believe Scruton also played against us on every occasion since too. Just noting it, someone above mentioned an ex-player who went to Wakefield asked for and received permission to not play against us. I don't think that's true.

It was lee smith, rumoured to be signing for us if we won mpg, who asked not to be selected against us. mentioned by chissit halfway down this page. I got him and sammut mixed up.

Think it may be one of those unfortunate occasions when, 'best practice', clashes. The need to use the youngster in 'easy' games, against the need to give players returning from injury a game before the bigger match. Who'd be a coach?

TBH, there were things that need to be worked on from that performance.
In certain cases I think it's just a case of a player needing an extended run in their position to improve their confidence.

But really, that is the sort of baseline performance that we should be putting in on a weekly basis. Let the p/t burn up their energy trying to out enthuse us in the first half followed by a second half blitzing.

We did switch off in at times, certainly in the second half when the game was all but won. Hopefully Diskin and whomever is the incoming coach can work on eliminating that.
