Can't believe some of posts on here,it's was leighs fault because they played more friendlies than us,Jesus if you have a load of new signings you play as many friendlies as possible,we were there for the taking today yet you could not manage it,30 points to 6 second half tells the whole story.I hope Gaskell stays fit for you lot,without him you would be lost

after todays showing I believe a petition should be started to get Leigh to replace one of the teams in the World Club Series.

Bulls No.9 was outstanding throughout, It's just 1 game, unless we had got stuffed (thought we would at h/t) no big deal if we lost, but so glad we didn't !!!!

I believe that point was made in reply to match fitness. As for Gaskell that's fair enough but the same is said for Bierley

Bradford could say he same to be fair. In fact fans players coaches say the same thing after every game that they are better than that, they can improve etx If Purtells try had correctly been given in the second half we could have run away with it. As it was ref got it wrong and Leigh came roaring back. Great game today and I'm sure thethen fixture will be te same.

We'll be waiting to get our own back, hopefully with Ferguson, Blythe, Davies and Lauaki all fit. Plus hopefully we won't get two injuries during the game and it will be 13 against 13 for the return fixture

Don't think any of the Leigh players playing today have played in more than 2 of the friendlies, both teams will get better as they get battle hardened.

Did not watch the game (Work) but listened on BCB ... Decent commentary and by the sound of it Bradford were "Undercooked" as they said ... Bradford will get better and have players to come in, although I think Leigh have maxed really. Two things .. we get a kicker and 2 Well done to Leigh, enjoy your win

Sidlow carried your pack and Gaskell ran the show first half, second half I expected us to fold after all the ball you had but we got some ball and scored some points.
Cant comment on the Purtill 'try' as I was too far away but Higson had one chalked off by the ref first half when the linesman who was in line didn't call it forward 12-12 became 6-20 at HT as a result

First three Bulls tries were all directly after stupid penalties. No excusing that one, although one certainly looked like a forward pass from where i was in the North stand. Gaskell is going to be a huge player for you this year, but for gods sake, loose the scrum half - I honestly think he won us the game today.

Yes, Leigh have a couple of niggly (for want of a more acceptable word) players, but then we also had three players taken out off the ball, so I'd suggest that one could cut both ways.

I don't think anyone can go unbeaten this year, or even close, but we've seen the best battle it out today in one of the greatest games I've seen in 42 years of watching Leigh. It had everything.
Coming to the end, as we ran in our last but one try, I said to the bloke stood next to me "That's it, we'll score another here". You could see the body language change, and there was a little bit of what looked like finger pointing going on. That needs nipping in the bud.

But well played, and unlucky, Bradford, both your team and your fans were a credit to you, especially the fan in the services just before Bradford who opened the door to me with a "Are you buggers stalking us now?" and a grin as I drove home to sunny Shorpe :/

Enjoyed the game today. Great atmosphere and a huge Bradford following really helped in that regard.

1st half we looked nervous and played dumb rugby and you tore us apart at times.

2nd half we held our composure better and started to play more like we can and took control of the match.

Gaskell, Sidlow and your hooker all played very well.

Tough game, bit nasty at times (both sides) but very exciting.

It's ironic that I described his tactics as thuggish to my dad making up for his lack of speed and guile. Other than that Mullanny impressed me

I appreciate that, but a few indicating thuggish or dirty tactics as reasons for unsettling. In my eyes, both teams were to blame, we were dumber than you first half, you were dumber 2nd half and the scoreline reflects this. Add to this our expansive open rugby policy and pace throughout the team and thats where our victory came from. Disappointed to hear Chev Walkers comments (if true) as he really needs to get his house order before throwing stones. Can't wait for the return match.

Bradford fans were great yesterday. Think the main difference was our team has been together longer and looked more match fit. Think we're going to be the top 2 by the end of the season. Gaskell, O'Brien and Sidlow looked good yesterday. As for the aggression by both teams I'm not biased or naive enough to think any of the players out there today are angels so enough with the finger pointing.

I started reading the thread, but when it descends into petty arguing, I tend to switch off. So I'll just post thoughts on the game.

Positives: Adam O'Brien, who was simply brilliant. Constant threat with the ball, superb defence (see him grab hold of Moimoi on his own, stop him in his tracks and refuse to let go?). Gaskell in the first half ripped Leigh apart. Adam Sidlow looked like a different player, and has perhaps found the perfect level for him. Put in a lot of minutes and was our best prop. The first half in general was a huge positive as they played some very very good stuff when they weren't getting distracted.

Negatives: Discipline, Discipline, Discipline. Most of the team were guilty at times of losing their cool when they should have stepped back from it. Seijka more than anyone with two utterly stupid sin bins that he only has himself to blame for. Ulugia came off the bench and all he did was miss a tackle and give away a stupid penalty with hardly any time left.

Yeah there were a couple of dodgy calls from the officials. Purtell's try should have been given no doubt, and the "high tackle" from Uaisele when he forced the Leigh player in goal in the second half made you wonder what the linesman was looking at. And yes, the referee should have controlled it better and not been fooled quite so easily. But you have to play what's there in front of you, and we failed to do that. Had the team not got involved in the rough house tactics, they wouldn't have thrown it away so badly. As Lowes and Walker pretty much said on Radio Leeds after the game.

If they cut out those stupid mistakes, there's plenty to take out of the game. Especially when you consider it's half a new team and these guys haven't played much together. They'll only get better.

I do worry a little that with no proper cover for the halves, we could have a situation where Siejka doesn't have to play well to get his spot next week, like other positions do. Hopefully he will improve with game time though and cut out the stupid stuff.


Leigh will go well this year though. A lot of teams would have thrown the towel in at half time, they upped their game and did what they needed to do to win. And players like Brierley and McNally were superb at times.

It was a great atmosphere and Leigh deserved the result.

If I'm honest, I didn't think the match was great, too bitty, too much stop and start and I thought we'd have have more fluent rugby than we did. I know the championship is "harder" and more 'old school' than we've been used to but I wasn't really expecting [i:1t4he9enquite[/i fit and build up over this early season ready for the more important games down the line.
