If it's 5.5k a year then Langley's fee would be even more? He's been in our system since he was 16 IIRC that's about £70k at least? Not sure Addy's been here long enough for the fee to be £50k, more like £35k if the figures add up as is being said.

doesnt apply to langley. Its same system we got money for karl pryce under when he came back from union. back then it only applied until a player turned 24 then they became free agents. Now they become free agents at 22, which addy is, but because he turned 22 before a certain date the fee still applies until december 1st. apparently other clubs thought they could approach him but not physically sign him until after december 1st and avoid the fee but RFL have taken a different view and said fee will apply to any club thats made an offer.

That's a lot of information that I'm pretty sure isn't public knowledge - you got a source somewhere mat?

The compensation expiry date shall mean the 1st of December immediately after a player has both reached the age of 22 and is also a contract expired player.
But if on or before 30 November in any year a Player's contract had expired and he has already turned 21 years of age then his Expiy Date shall be the date of his 22nd birthday and not 1st December following.

Addy was 22 15/1/2013.
Contracts expire 30th November

Any clubs that want him will just make a new offer after the date.

Purely from conjecture it might be that club W signed player A on the misguided premise that they would not pay club B compensation.
This might have been contested by club B and the case gone to the RFL under Regulation C:1:3:14
Perhaps the Board found in favour of club B that compensation was due whereupon club W pulled out of the deal.
No doubt the RFL might then ban club W for making a further signing of player A when he was outside of the Compensation regulations.

Yes but made an offer and entered into a contract are not the same thing.
Unless I'm reading the rules wrong,the compensation is only payable if the player and club have entered into the contract.

Kearneys already said he's staying on next year, although for some reason club didn't think that was significant enou news to warrant an announcement. Wouldn't be surprised if one of additions on your list is announced later in week.

Not impressed if we end up signing him, I can't see what he offers that Platt doesn't.
Unless Platt has turned down our contract offer and we're signing George instead, I don't understand the logic here.

I'd be quite happy with Kear/Foster/Platt/Wood as our wingers. Three of those can also cover fullback, in addition to Naughton who should be getting some first team action next season.
The area where we are now desperately thin is at centre, and there isn't even a sniff of a rumour about us signing one.

I'd only want to sign George if Platt isn't signing.

Is David Howell at London worth a go for centre? I know he has had his fair share of injuries other the last 2 years but might be worth the gamble.

Speed, maybe value for money. He's neither as good as Kear or Foster so I'm quite happy to see him come in as wing cover as opposed to Platt. Only thing Platt has over George is probably versatility.

If Addy is definitely on his way I'd be happy to get Stuart Howarth in for a bit of cover. He doesn't break any pots, but he's played all over the park and done a decent job of it. Saints have told him that they won't take up the option to keep him next year, and apparently Mr Noble doesn't want him as part of his Salford revolution!!
