ANy ideas how this might affect the OSV. Make it more likely perhpas?

Sounds as if the "joined up thinking" that Peter Hood often mentions has yet to properly materialise into strategy that could be put into practice.

If anything it seems to me that OSV is further away than ever as there seems to be no plan at all yet for sports facility provision in Bradford.

I doubt it.

I bet the people of Bingley will be delighted with that proposal.

dont think plans include a pool just a sports ,gym and indoor sports hall afaik, so probably doesnt help much.

Seriously thoguh, for a town the size of Keighley not to have a "proper" pool is ridiculous.

I take my kids to Skipton, where the facilities are a million times better.

I'd say the same about Bradford! That doesn't have a proper pool either.

That said, neither did Leeds for long enough.

The OSV plans I saw included a pool to competition dimensions. I can't believe this has been written out of the plan. What does it include now? A pool table?

what if the club did a petition and get say 20000 fans to sign would the council then give the go ahead.

If the choice was between the club going under and getting off their to ORGANISE a petition then the fans of Bradford would rather watch us go out of business.

OK. I have created an account on an online petition site and am happy to set up/administer the petition.

In order to get this right first time I would like some input/help in to wording the petition.

The petition site that I have chosen requires population of two main fields:


Petition History/Description
I would expect that this would include information on the various failed schemes, the state and upkeep of the current stadium, and the shortage of quality community sporting facilities in the city.

This is the statement that we would be asking people to agree to and so would have to be well thought out.

Have you considered using facebook to raise awareness of the petition. I'm fairly certain there are more than a few bulls fans who may not frequent this board but may use facebook. plus you've a chance to reach a much broader number of people and increase the number of signatures recieved.

I signed it. It is amazing how signing a petition makes you feel that you are actually a Castleford supporter.

posted on a couple of groups on Facebook and added a link to my profile. Not overly experienced with facebook so not sure if there is a better place to publicise it.

simplest way is to start a group then invite everyone you know on facebook and ask them to invite everyone they know and so on and so on.

interesting bit at end about developer deciding scheme wasnt commercially viable and dropping it and council deciding to carry on. When was there a developer associate with osv? think they're getting mixed up with previous plans from when we moved to valley parade.

I sit on a group that includes 2 colleagues who are heavily involved in sports strategy across the district, including OSV. Talking to them yesterday they are more optimistic than ever before of the possibilities that this will happen.

How is it that a suburb of Liverpool can get the go ahead for a stadium without the need for a public enquiry and yet Bradfords plans are always scuppered by Messrs Morrisons, local council and government.....

It now seems that the plans for redevelopment of Odsal have been shelved because regardless of what is presetned the forward thinking council of Bradford say No and in the gloomy financial situation the country is in its unlikely anyone will be willing to sponsor the redevelopment.

Hers to the dwindling crowds the poor marketing the awful burger stands and getting wet in fact Welcome back the GOOD OLD DAYS pre super league.

Odsal nowadays is reminscent of pre super league their seems to be no effort around the concourse anymore, wheres the bouny castles entertain,ent for the kids face paint etc? (the stuff that brings the kids back)..replaced with credit card sales man and too many programme sellers..wheres the mixture of different cuisines around the top??replaced with sub standard burger stands that run out even with poor crowds.

as a fan it pains me to see the decline and apparent lack of effort from the club to pull people back in..stickign a big poster up at the ground and an annoucnement on the website doesnt seem to be a big effort wheres the radio announcements? signs around the city? association with schools (bull boy gate, Note: free kids bring paying parents).
