| Professional sportsmen with agents holding well paid contracts do not simply shake hands and say goodbye. Anyone who seriously thinks Sammut has walked out on £15-1800 a week for £300 at Workington needs his bumps felt. Either he's been paid up or they're still paying, probably the latter on the stipulation he doesn't play for us. The agents of Collis and Paea will have negotiated notice periods or what on earth are they for?
Miketaurus is right. The half back situation has loomed large all season. Siejka was unknown and hadn't been fit for two years, although I still he (and the team) could get it together with a little bit of luck. Nevertheless, Lowes has gambled massively on a very small pool of playmakers for reasons I don't fully understand.

Considering Michael Carter has stated before he couldn't afford to sack James Webster or Richard Agar, I highly doubt he's paying Sammut in full or a massive pay off and then Collis and Paea notice periods, and then being able to afford Michael Sio, Stuart Howarth and Kevin Locke.
How do you know Jimmys gambled with the halves? again do you really think Steves Ferres hasn't been looking for HB? I think everyone would love another HB.
But let's not just buy another HB for sake of it. Chances are we'll end up with another Marc Herbert.

| One criticism I do have with Jimmy is why he didn't give Brook more of a go. Sounds like he is ripping teams apart for Keighley. Addy just isn't good enough to play at HB. What harm would it have done to see what Brook can do against Doncaster, working in the cup etc

Well I know RL players aren't the brightest, but I doubt Jarrod would have walked away from his current deal until the end of the year without a fairly significant amount being paid up. If he had managed to secure a couple of years somewhere else by leaving early then maybe so but he's joined a part time team on you would assume taken a significant pay cut.

| Only guessing here but Brook's salary structure may change depending on him making any first team appearances etc.
Nobody knows just how close to the cap limit we were at the start of the season, half way through, or right now after we've loaned some players out.
The decision to play some players and not others might actually be the result of a little bit more than just Jimmy being stubborn.

Where did Carter state that? Irrespective, what he can or can't afford is irrelevant.

| Unless we're saving something special by way of a surprise, nothing so far this season has led me to believe that we're anywhere near good enough to go up. Whatever we say about Leigh, they've been consistent throughout and look the part. One up, one down for me and it'll be Leigh promoted.

Leigh have been no more consistent than we have. They might have played as a more cohesive unit, but given their squad has been together longer than 6 months and is more familiar with the league, teams and stadia that they play against, that shouldn't be a surprise. When Leigh beat us, they only scored 1 more try than we did and had cooler heads prevailed on the opening day, I believe we would have come away with the points. Given that it's a 7 game series at the end of the season, I think that 4 wins would be enough to push for a promotion spot. So that's the 3 other Championship sides plus taking points off one of the SL clubs. With a fully fit squad I think that's an achievable target for Bradford

| We'll they're not going to die wondering. Looks like they'll throw the kitchen sink to stay up. But Walker and Tansey wouldn't get in our team. Sio is an unknown and could be a flop or a superstar. Locke is the only one that worries me, think that's a good signing. But there are question marks over his fitness and whether he can regain the form of two years a go.

| To be fair, Tansey always seems to pull out the stops when he plays against us.
I was going to say, that if he played as well for us as he does for our opponents, I'd consider him as a Bull, but I guess we'd need to see how he rolled when he actually kept himself onside as he wouldn't get the kind of leeway he's used to if he were in RA&B..

| We've added some class and some speed. It remains to be seen whether we have added to the team as a whole.
Hull will be an interesting game for us. We still have weak links in our team but Smith is certainly improving us.
I look forward to seeing how it works out.

That's stretching the imagination a bit, do you seriously think Wakefield could afford to have a player on his wages sat doing nothing just to deny your club, as desperate as we've been with injuries he still could not get a game, surely that tells you there were other issues not available to the public domain.
Before the season started at a fans forum, Webster was asked why Sammut was not getting a game, he refused to answer but did say that he would not have a problem if Sammut wanted to make the issue public, perhaps you are looking in the wrong direction and just maybe Lowes and Ferres did not want him back at your club

| If Sammut was on such a big wage how come Workington can afford him. Only a fool would take a large paycut. So are Wakey paying the rest of his wages.
Webster was told there was no money for new players, now 4 come in plus Brian Smith, yet now we hear you are backpeddling on ground rent. The RFL should be looking into the circumstances or they will let you go down the same road as us which they said they would never let happen again.

Don't have a clue, you would have to ask Mr Carter or the Workington chairman for an answer to those questions.
As for B Smith I assume a large part of his wages would come from the freeing up of Webster's salary, of the 4 players coming in presumably those wage will come from the departed Paea, Collis, and Sammut, realistically 3 of those I would imagine would not be top earners as for Locke draw your own conclusions there, He'll be looking to set himself up with a new club next season where ever that is, as for his wages for the next 12 games you can only speculate on those, as I see both Locke and the club are doing each other a favour, as for back peddling on ground rent there is a perfectly reasonable explanation, whatever your thoughts are on the matter, on the Wakefield board under the appropriate thread.

I take exception to your remark that RL players aren't the brightest.. we have had policemen, sports science degrees, financial advisers and many other trades. Think this is over the top.
