Tbh they’ve been crap all year.
I would say in answer to that, why aren’t they pulling up trees trying to impress other clubs if they want away?, but the logic behind that went when the second best team is the league signed Dan Fleming.

| Scoreline flattered barrow a touch. Not by much by 6/8 points or so.
We could have still been there now and not managed to break them down to score. Millars miracle play from a kick got us over the line.
What i will say is there looked to be more effort today. More urgency (in most part) on the goal line D. But my god we are terrible on attack.
Brad England my MOM (although he did miss a tackle for 1 of the late trys) but he put a shift in.
Hallas had a dig as well.
A mention on GFJr. Hope he doesnt get dropped for his mistake. It can only be described as an absolute brain explosion but ulitmately cost us 12 points. The kid needs to keep his head up hes obviously going to be a huge talent.

| Sounds like the exodus could have started. First Fleming and now I've been told MDJ is heading out of the club.
Get the feeling the decks are being cleared ahead if next year. This is not Dunning's squad and I hope people give him a chance to build his own team.

The only way people will give him that chance is if he gets an improvement out of the existing squad in the remaining matches.
At the current rate, Dunning’s 2023 squad will be playing in front of 900 at home.
He hasn’t shown anything to suggest he’s capable in the last few weeks, but sure let’s write it off and give him a chance with “his own squad” next year.
I’m just about finished. If they decide to get a decent coach in, I could be tempted back next year.

Problem is nobody knows if Dunning is a decent coach or not. And this team is rotten to the core.
I don't believe any coach would be able to sort the mess going on internally without a complete clear out and that just isn't realistically going to happen until the end of the season.
Doesn't mean I'm happy about it but we have to face facts... the players at the club don't want to play.

If they’re past motivating then drop them.
Either Dunning can’t see what we can see, or he isn’t prepared to drop players.
Last week Dunning saw the positives, he then dropped 1 player out of the 17 (and another injured).
I don’t think Dunning will see out next season, but they’ll leave it long enough to completely kill off the crowds before they make a change.

| Something catastrophic has happened, of which Dunning's appointment seems to be the final straw. Whether this suggest the players are aware of something we're not - that the coaching recruitment has been something of a charade - or a deeper sense that the club's connection with its own support base has finally collapsed, as evidenced by the fans forum, I don't know. But this isn't fixed by a new coach - who'd take this job now?
This regime is finished.

| I was interested to see this in the T&A
Quote Dunning added: “Confidence is low. It is probably the lowest it has been at my time at the club.
“There has been a lot going on behind the scenes and when confidence is low people try and do things on their own and not working as a team and at times today I thought we did that and tried to make things happen rather than sticking to the processes and structures that we put into place leading into this game.'"
The bit in bold stuck out.
What is he referring to, I wonder?

Completely at odds with what we’re all seeing on the pitch.

I'd imagine that's probably to do with people being told they're not having their contracts renewed etc
It should be a lot as we need a complete culture change at the club.

Of course. There's a date some time in early summer where players can begin to secure their playing future and clubs can approach out of contract players at other clubs.
New contracts always start in November I believe so there has to be plenty of notice for players to be able to find new clubs etc.

I believe players can begin to speak to other clubs on May 1st. Assume players who will be signed on for next year know that they are wanting to be retained. The others who are leaving will know by now whether they will be here next year.
At the fans forum MD referred to this time of year as silly season.

Scott
Patton
Gill
Lilley
England
Wallace
Scurr
Doyle
Butler
Flanagan Jr
The rest can go for me.

Did anyone go and is the above a fair reflection?

| We lost. But I don’t think it was that bad. The first try came off 1 missed tackle, our back 5 scrambled hard but eventually had all committed to covering the break and we ran out of bodies.
The next 2 tries were because of our discipline. I think they went pen, pen, try. Then pen, knock on, try.
MD looked like he’d fixed it at half time, because we stopped giving penalties away and Barrow stopped being able to break us. We scored first and a few flickers of belief came through.
I can’t remember what happened for Barrow’s first try of the 2nd half but heads went down and you could see them all mentally stop. And that was it. Bullseye pointed out confidence further up and MD mentioned it in the interview. I’ve not seen a team with so little confidence before.

But that's going to be true at every club in every season. Players can start talking to other clubs on May 1st, so this time of year will always have the narrative of players sorting out their future - it doesn't excuse us being crap.
Mick was saying on his Twitter after the game yesterday that there's no player budget fixed for next year. If true, then that could explain a lot. No player budget means no meaningful discussions about retention for 2023. I think we likely have a lot of players who are not exactly in demand with other clubs who don't know if they are going to be offered anything - that seems to be a possible reason for lack of commitment to the cause.

Id agree with all of these barring Lilley.
Id also add Jowett, Millar as 2 id definately keep.
Jury still out for me on 1 or 2. Patten and Burton spring to mind.
Id be interested to know the contact situationof the lads weve had on loan this year. Johnson and Oconnor have new deals, not sure about Mustapha and Tindall. I presume Holroyd has. Ive no idea regarding Walters or Gannon. Buttler i believe will be with us next year all.

I don't think it's just the pack. You look at the centres, second rowers and wingers, none of them are really strike players. The likes of Kear, Murphy, England, Hallas, Evans, they're all grafters but none of them will be getting 10+ tries a year. Throw in the fact we've effectively no FB.

Patton worked well with Gill and Scott (when fit) down that left hand side.
