Was really looking forward to seeing how Rohan did wirh a full season regardless who we had lost.

They won't get anybody with the experience of high class modern systems and the contacts that Rohan Smith has.

However, they might just be better off with somebody that can get in and just motivate them to play hard.

It would be interesting to know what points they disagreed on.

Given the close proximity to the start of the season, and the fact that this season is probably a write-off anyway, what did they have to lose by taking him on and giving him a chance? he already knew the players (those that remain) so is one step ahead compared to any new coach coming in.

I wonder if it was to do with being asked to take a reduced salary? I've no inside knowledge, but given the rumoured financial constraints, its not beyond the realms that he was asked to take a cut.

Saying they are looking for a proven experienced coach though so surely if thats what they are looking for that cant be an issue

So a new coach to find along with a new team now, good stuff.

I'm liking their style already, let's ditch anyone who has shown any loyalty. No room for sentimentality in this game.

Leon as player coach? Paul Anderson? Glen Morrison? Henry Paul? Nick Zisti?

On Lowes: the man is a doylum. Great hooker, Bulls legend but doylum none the less. Pryce would have a massive head start if we were to compare.

If its right what I've been told the money Rohan was on it's no wonder the last club was in the strife. Massively over payed for a novice championship coach.

A few of us had this conversation and we were split regarding Rohan.
A great guy who came at the wrong time and showed a good attitude.
On the other side of the coin were the rumours of some player discontent. We did look great at times but we also had some horrendous games where attitude was poor. That Fev game probably broke the club and he dropped O'Brien.

Overall I think the jury is out and he will be a good coach one day. I would shake his hand and thank him.
Would you take a more experience guy right now like a John Kear if he had been available?
I don't blame the owners if they go with their coach. Their money - their choice.
We need someone who can get the team to play every game - not just now and then. It may be an unknown coach to us but not the owners.

Lance Du'Lac mentioned something similar during an interview on the radio when we were liquidated. He stated that people like Leigh Beattie were on next to nothing whereas he was on a fairly decent amount. I assume the same could be said about the players wages as well?

I hope we don't automatically go down the former player route again, it didn't end well last time.

Anyone considered that if money's tight they may make Leon player/assistant coach with Lowe taking on head coaches role and mentoring Leon?. Saves a big wage straight off and it's not like he hasn't got a bit experience

There are some great stories of Lowe as a coach. They're all from the 80s. I have no doubt whatsoever about him instilling a proper ethic. It's my one ray of hope in this mess. But coaching? Hmm.

Not long since people on here were demanding that Rohan be given the keys to the city. Beware! Should he get the hump, he might lock you all in.

Sounding more & more likely Henry is the preferred choice.

Henry is my all time favourite bulls player so don't want that memory tarnished the same way as Jimmys.
