As a Saints fan and a very infrequent internet forum poster I felt the need to comment on this.

In his 2 years at the helm at Saints Mick Potter couldn’t be described as a runaway success (good coach, but not our style, sometimes the 'fit' isn’t right- that’s life) but off the field he handled himself excellently and was respected for this by the majority.

However, what he has done today is truly outstanding. He has put his own personal disappointment, upset and anger to one side. He listened to his (at that stage) former players and put his hand up to stand by them. Well done Mick.

Quite rightly many of you have called him a Bulls legend. He has shown what many others have before him, that when the going gets tough the RL family will stand together and fight for one another.

Good luck to you all. I hope not only do you survive but you survive in the way in which all of your fans deserve, not with some underhanded manoeuvre but with honour and integrity.

Guilfoyle has got a dog of a job to do in trying to sell this club as a going concern. He's being a pragmatist, stripping it back to the bare bones that are needed to function. This situation is less than ideal, but one hell of an advert for our club!

Is there any scope to raise funds at the match (or afterwards) to give to Potter?

I would much rather the money I gave the Bulls fund go directly to him rather than the creditors.

Only way is to not give it to the club, but to collect it separately.

Incidentally, I'd rather give it to Potter to divi out amongst all the coaching staff.

Got an email from the Rhinos today saying the Bulls match is going ahead so looking like something's sorted for the next few rounds at least...
