| Very disappointing. Dont think the 3 injuries were an excuse as Alibert made sure we stayed in Leeds half. We just had no direction at all. Gale & Jefferies looked clueless. How hard is it to create an inside runner. If you running left, and the rest of the team run left, theres only one way your going to go and you'll run out of space. Leeds never got out of 1st gear as another poster said. Very very poor, especially form the half backs and i'm wondering what we are going to do for half backs for next year as Jefferies isn't consistent and Gale hasn't really stood up yet.
On another note, Karl Pryce is stealing a wage.

| Don't think jeffries did too much wrong.Gale tried to score every time he had the ball. He needed to show more patience. Jeffries is in his 10th year of Super League and has played in the top grade all that time, so he must be doing something right.Bradford need his experience.

| Didnt know you could jump from field of play, catch a bomb, land behind your line, get tackled then get a 20 tap.
when did they change that rule?

| I agree, the 20m restrat for the game breaking try was a wrong call. But you'll always get that with Alibert. His employment is purely political! He's never been a good official and if he was Englosh he'd struggle to get a championship game to officiate. The likes of Roby and Stokes are light years ahead of him!
but we didnt lose because of him!
I cant believe that Gale is taking flack on here! All this building for the future? whats happened? Gale was not getting people making runs for him, and in the first half when they did, we scored tries.
the key factor was on the hottest game day of the season, we ended up with three injured players on the bench and rotating one sub! Suggesting jeffries is a better choice than Gale, well I am flabbergasted! How many games has Gale played for us? half a dozen? GIve him a chance! Jeffries is mr inconsistent. Can look great, but can be invisible! Get a decent 6 outside gale at 7 and let them build a partnership.
We fell into the trap today of trying to score off every play. I said to the mrs when we went 18-6 up, that if Leeds click, theyll beat us by 20! They didnt really need to! we missed loads of tackles in the middle that enabled Mcguire to run riot. In short, we missed Jamie Langley!

| same old short comings im afraid, the effort was there but the class wasnt. Unless the final play kicks off we have very little idea of how to get over the line other than a dummy scoot. look at the majority of tries scored in the other games and think, would we have scored that ? the answer is invaraibly no. Cant remember a single break from anyone yesterday and only leeds indiscipline ensured we made it into their half.
Slightly off topic but maybe its the turn of huddersfield to get the leeds game at future magic events, at least then we have a chance of two points

| We looked very tired in the second half, the 3 injuries and the heat clearly took their toll. And we do lack a cutting edge, the ability to score the sort of tries that McGuire did.
Hope Purtell's illness isn't too serious. Possibly the effects of the heat?

| Maguires tries came off the back of poor defence up the middle, the a tacklers and markers not doing their jobs. in short, the big guys were fatigued and langley wasnt there! There wasnt a massive creative difference between the two sides, Leeds just exploited our weaknesses well. If leeds had been hit by injuries like we had, we'dve been able to do the same to them!
I hate excuses, but this time we have them. Not the officials, but a lack of numbers due to injuries to Diskin, Kopczack and Walker!

| I agree with Issac here, Gale was OK, he directs play fairly well, gets us up the field and into position. Theres just no link beyond Gale and we're effectively playing with 1 pivot. We need a really good 6 for next season, because I'm not sure if Sammut is that type of player that we're lacking and John Bateman seems a better backrower than a loose forward.

| TBF i didnt think we would win this game, as we havent got the killer edge like the teams above us, we seem more suited with the blood and thunder games.
Castleford next week which will be blood and thunder, we win and the other results go our way like i said but saints beat hull fc then we will be in 7th 2 points behind them both and ahead of leeds and kr which is a good position to be in IMO, then we play saints the week after who are blowing hot and cold ATM.
All of the leeds trys came up the middle right through the spot langley usually opperates out of, we didnt move the ball to the wings much either considering the size advantage pryce had over smith. We still seem to panic when we get into the oppos 20, play to the kick, build pressure and try and get a repeat set.
Heat is a load of nonsnese i agree eddie, but the injures contributed to it more as the players didnt get any time to cool down whilst on the bench, but these things happen. They have been training in it all week and it will be sunny and hot uptill august so if thats the reason we need to get used to it quickly.

Not the heat Eddie, the fact that we had no or little rotation for large parts of the game.

| Losing Diskin is a massive massive blow to us, Lestrange doesn't have the same control of a game that Diskin does and things start to look sloppy, panicked and unstructured when he comes on, it''s like we lose all shape and discipline because everybody is doing whatever they want. Hopefully he isn't injured for too long and we can get him back on the field.

No your comment is nonsense. It would have been hard enough in any weather to be left down to 1 fit sub but it is stating the obvious that it is greatly harder to do 80 minutes in baking heat than on a cool day.
Also nobody is "blaming " the heat for the defeat. They are pointing out what any reasonable person would have to agree that in the above circumstances it was a very significant factor for us.

It always looks worse when the passing player stops dead in the act of passing, I prersume you are referring to the Webb pass. Personally I thought the inital direction was flat, but obviously it ended up well in front of Webb. There is no answer, nor does there need to be, modern rugby is based largely around the flat pass, consequently a number in any game are going to be marginal. referees are as human as the players making the passes & missing the tackles.

Webb's attitude seems to be worsening as his talent erodes, he really does want snotting. If Webb cops a ban then Whitehead will be sweating, he does the same thing, I think ironically on Webb, shortly after.

Well put Isaac1, Leeds created, we lacked as on many occasions this season, on their line. Koppy only lasting 30 seconds had a huge impact on the game.
The breakaway game winning try was so obviously going to happen, Bulls were slow facing up and got caught out.

| Couldn't fault us for lack of effort or commitment, but have to agree we rarely looked like manufacturing a break or creating too much for that matter. Lack of pace again, particularly in the halves is obvious.

| I disagree. People seem to forget that we actually scored 22 points, Leeds deservedly won the match but did not deserve as many as 37. It wasn't as bad an effort as some are making out. That we didn't score more was in fair part due to some very good Leeds defence, especially in the second half.
We were adversely affected by injuries and that is just stating a fact not an excuse. Langley was a big hole to fill, but that is what you have squads for, losing Kopczak OTOH after a few seconds and having to therefore play the entire game without him gave Leeds a fair leg up.
Gale is taking some stick but unfairly so in my opinion, because where your pack is being got the better off (which would be less likely with Koppy and Langley on the field) the halfbacks have much less chance to be on the front foot.
In the second half some of the several defensive lapses were due to too many tired players with effectively no remaining way to spell any of them, and especially in that heat, this must have taken its toll.
I also don't buy into the "lack of pace" theory, defensively the trick is not to let the Burrows and McGuires of this world break through the central defensive line in the first place. If they do, and you are playing a team like Leeds, Saints, Wire or Wigan who will have the support there in spades, that's what costs you the points, not lack of pace.
It was overall a disappointing performance in some ways, but taking everything into account, I'm not that upset by it, and much of what we did in adversity was actually good.
