| The worrying thing is the club describe it as a "strain".
Quote
"Jamie Langley has still not recovered sufficiently from the Quad strain"
Unquote
In most sports, you'd expect a strain to clear up within a week or two max. Sounds more like a tear to be out this long.

| You would assume the club's doctors will know what they are doing. Or is that a dangerous assumption?

| He did tear it at first, but when he started full training again (around the Wakey game I believe) he strained it aswell.
Hopefully back next week then?

Wardle
Nero
Halley
Sykes
Southernwood
Scruton
L'Estrange

| Sounds like Langley's had a more serious injury than was first realised.
Looking at the 17s put up would you really have Wardle marking Matt King? I the cup game McNamara stuck Menzies out there to shore things up and it worked in attack too.

That's a very good point tbf, but I fear that without Langley, Menzies or Lynch our pack will not do well at all vs Wire.

| We're just struggling for numbers. But I think Menzies is our best centre and is also the only player capable of creating anything out wide if Kearney's in the middle.
We are light in the forwards. We need Koppy and Crossley to really step up.

I don't think they'll play Southernwood in this one, and I really can't see him starting.

I'm not too sure, our other options in the halves aren't excellent (Kearney, L'Estrange, Addy, Menzies)
We'll probably see Kearney play there aswell, but imo we really need him at FB.

I'd rather see Kearney at fullback with Sykes and L'Estrange as half backs. I don't see that L'Estrange is any worse at half back than Kearney and we need to use Kearney to his full potential.
Don't think it will happen though.

iI'd like to see Addy or Menzies at 6 with Sykes at 7 personally. L'Estrange and Kearney offer us more in their respective positions than they would in the halves.

True, but at least there is cover for L'Estrange in Godwin. Menzies would leave the pack very weak.

| I'd probably go with:
reardon
halley
nero
menzies
sykes
kearney
scruton
l'estrange
hall
whitehead
worrincy
addy
godwin
kopczak
crossley
olbison/wardle/southernwood
Think we need menzies out wide to try and contain matt king. Leaves us very light in pack but cant be helped. give addy a try at loose forward which is his recognised position. swap reardon and halley as think reardon looks a lot more comfortable at FB and halley is a better winger. We need kearney in the halves to try and give us some creativity although I wouldnt mind seeing a l'estrange/kearney partnership tried out ( l'estrange for the creative side and kearney as the supporting stand off). Some off our best play in last few weeks has come when wagga was at hooker so I wouldnt be adverse to giving him role fulltime and using l'estrange in halves in orfords absence. totally undecided as to last bench spot. think it would be a big ask to throw southernwood on against wire, even off bench, and I'd prefer to hold him back with a view to using him newxt week against cas. Probably go with olbison purely to alow us to rotate pack a bit. If menzies stays in pack then wardle to take the berth and addy to last bench spot.

Either you've missed a winger, or Scruton has developed some good ball handling skills and a sidestep or two

Sheriffe & Menzies does work well imo (although any winger would be lucky to have Menzies playing next to him) but Rikki needs to learm the inside pass back to Beaver!!
You can be forgiven this week, it's the hardest to guess what the line-up wil be like for a long time.

you sure you want sykes lining up against matt king? seems a big ask to me and tbh wouldnt let sykes anywhere near a berth while we've got other fit.

We need some creativity Mat, Sykes doesn't do it.
In my team, Sykes would be 4, which is left centre, which would mean he'd be lined up against Wolves RC, which is Bridge. Which then leaves Wardle to cover King. At the end of the day Matt, they have got to start somewhere. He's a good defender anyway and with Beaver inside him, he will do just fine.
The forwards have got to stand up more than anything and not allow Wolves to make ground, if they do that then we dont really have to worry about anything else.

| Like i said on another post. "This wont be a mauling"
I really don't think you will concede 40 or more again for the 3rd week going.
Look what happened to Salford at Murrayfield.
We won 68-16 and they beat Saints and Catalans the week after just got think like that i suppose
Best Of Luck Anyways

| It just seems to me one of those games that have away win at a canter written all over it - and yet that is just the sort of game that ends up a home win. We've seen it in Bradford v Wire games before (the Langer Game at Wilderspool jumps to mind), and no-one gave you a prayer at half time in your Wigan game, and this Saturday could just be one of those games. Let's face it you could have and perhaps should have won the cup game, have had a couple of wallopings since and have lost your talismanic star player - I just have a horrible feeling this could be one of those days when you lift everything...

| You never know, if the lads have that backs to the wall mentality we might just spring a suprise and keep wire to 40 or less.
To me it doesn't matter how many they score to be honest, its our inability to create anything ourselves that will sink us. I can't see us scoring more than 10 regardless of what Wire do.
