Tell.
The only other rumours i've heard are Langley (no chance seen as the 2010 shirt is his testimonial one) and Platt.
Not many of our players would be ones clubs would be willing to pay a transfer fee for apart from :
Lynch (new 3 year deal so, no)
Halley (New 2 year, no)
Scrutes ( it's a possibility but he's publicly stated he loves it here)
Godwin ( Not after his articles)
Nero (Maybe, I doubt we'd be willing to let go though, given the lack of quality centres around)

Aye me too. Langley was bid on and rejected apparently (I won't name the club in question).
I suspect this is one of two things. Either an old rumour that's dead in the water now, or someone just trying to stir a bit. Either way, I really don't see any players leaving us between now and the start of the season.

Saints ?
The only one I could see going would be Platt, I feel he may be surplus to requirements if we do acquire a centre. But who would want him ?

Wigan enquired about him IIRC? And Stevo did his usual "you heard it here first" wänkerage in his column after the event?

| Much as Platty has been ok for me in the centres, maybe not as a starter but as a squad player he`s done a job, it still sounds like a lot of nonsense to me, to be honest.
Apart from which he`s not any real image to have rights to and nor would his best route home be via Singapore, so that should rule a couple of free spending clubs out.

I think he will provide good cover. If we do get another centre then Platt can cover our backline and Sykes can cover halves. I can't see Macca dropping Sykes to reserves though tbh.

Rather depends on availability on a week by week basis. If we`re lucky with injuries (not a situation we`re too familiar with I know) then he may well find himself in the reserves some weeks. He was dropped altogether a few times last season so I don`t think the coach regards him as indispensable, but he can cover a few positions so a bench spot could be in the offing.

| Platt is a great player to have in reserve. His confidence was very badly dented by some things that hapened and then more so by the pillorying he took (and in some places still takes) but whatever faults and problems there have been he is a confidence player more than most and when confident and playing well, has shown himself to be a top class attacking back, with some genuine pace and a good step. Work needed on the final pass.

I don't remember him being fully dropped. "Minor injuries" though

Any contracted player wanted by another club has a monetary value. Supply and demand and all that.

If you really want boring I can give you a long long list.
Start with
[list
Payments to players outside the salary cap
(various normal things like juniors and £50k where >10 years...)
NICs
Non-playing staff salaries and other costs
Stadium rent (where applicable), rates, repairs and other operating costs
Power
Depreciation
Office and Management costs
Marketing and Publicity
Advertising
Insurances
Printing and Stationery
Legal and Professional Fees
Transfer Fees
Cost of proucts sold - drinks, merchadise...
Interest (not a significant cost for Bulls but a big cost for some clubs)
Commissions
Travel Costs for first team and academy teams
Other team support costs
Settlements to other clubs for massive legal cases
[/list:u
Just some that come to mind - will be more if I sat down and thougt a bit more.

| Its interesting that Hudgell the KR chairman has stated that on average SL clubs each lose £540k so your finances dont seem bad at all infact they are in the top 3 of SL for the 2008 season

| Without knowing the full reasons for some of the losses, the figures alongside some clubs is staggering! Giants 1.3M?? Is that really true?
I'd be feeling a little uneasy even with such a committed backer like Davy on board. How long can Harlequins continue with those results?

| shamelessly poached from the above thread but it puts our 10k loss in perspective. given it was without the benefit of a backer we suddenly look a lot healthier financially as adey and others have been trying to tell the majority for ages. Some of the fans of other clubs who keep telling us were skint would be better off examning their own clubs situation, cos if were skint there in a far worse state.

Depreciation is not a tangible cost, it is merely an accounting policy (ie - you don't physically pay depreciation to another individual) therefore how can it can come out of the salary cost?
If that was the case, we simply wouldn't apply any depreciation at all!

Eh? What are you talking about? That lot just confused the hell out of me.
The guy asked Where the balance of a club's income went, other than what is paid to players (where the salary cap should theoretically account for £1.6m of it) and I told him. I sort of assumed that, having been qualified for over 30 years, and FD for much of that, I was in as good a position as anyone to help him?
I doubt he was wanting details about how certain costs are time-apportioned - which is of course all depreciation is: expenditure on something durable ( "tangible fixed assets", even...) in one year apportioned over a number of years, so you get the cash outflow ahead of the charges against profit.
