I will echo that. After I got off the M4 and was driving towards Twickenham, two lanes merged. A lorry driver decided he wanted to be in front of me and almost ran me off the road in order to do so. I just managed to swerve into the curb enough to avoid him hitting me and avoid hitting the lampposts on the curb.

Maybe its time the RL looked into the current Quins policy of Saturday afternoon matches?
It hardly seems fair on the travelling support. And its not as if they are pulling great crowds anyway in that time slot and need all the away fans they can get

| In all honesty, I don't think the Saturday made any difference. With the M4 down to one lane due to roadworks in that place, it's going to cause that sort of traffic whether it be a saturday or a sunday.
The Quins club, the RFL or anyone else related to the sport can't be blamed for it. The only ones to blame are the ones digging up the roads and causing these kind of delays. Of course if it needs to be done, it can't necessarily be helped, but they're never ever going to consider a rugby league game when deciding when to do the road repairs.

| Quote ="bobsmyuncle"Yours about last yesr's arrival is technically correct in that the bus arrived minutes before the kick off and you obviously agree about the year before that being a long time after.
My point is valid. From history good planning would include a comfort zone for arrival and a little time for socialities. Previous years trips have been too far on the knuckle for timing and these lessons have not been learned.
It is unreasonable not to plan for traffic delays in or around London, and your comment that you have never seen traffic so bad is naive. It is that bad now on a regular basis as any driver in that area will tell you.
The mileage of the journey is not germaine rathert the time it takes to cover those miles. I would reiterate that previous lessons have not been learned.'"
The bus arrived 20 minutes before kick off last year.
It could be said that it was cutting it a bit fine but people would complain just as much if they had to set off at the crack of dawn to hang around for hours waiting for the match.
My comment that I have never seen the traffic that bad in London is an observation. I have never seen it that bad.
The problems on the M25 forced more traffic onto normally busy roads and an accident and at least one broken down car slowed it up even more.
We've gone that route before on a busy Saturday afternoon and it was slow going in patches but not solid from the end of the motorway.
I have only seen the official coaches turn up after the game actually started once. It was a friendly in Hull and there were speed restrictions on the motorway because of ice.

If it were a Sunday game and there were any delays getting back it would be a very late finish and people would moan about getting home late on Sunday night.
We were back at around 9:30pm last night which wasn't bad. It might be a little late for kids the night before school though. (I know it's the holidays but the problem is not just one match, it's all season)

You'll know next time that when in London you're better off just driving like they do! Not point being a polite driver in London, every man for himself and cutting people up and blocking junctions is the norm down there!

I don't think we could expect them to ask staff to work longer, ask the players to sit around waiting when they'd already warmed up, ask their own fans to wait and to make the end of the game later just for 90 people.
The moaning girl on the bus actually rang them and demanded they delay kick-off. I don't blame them for refusing with 10 minutes notice.
The courier phoned a Bulls contact and from that someone arranged for the buses to be waved to the big main gates and for us to be ushered straight in without having to queue at the turnstiles. My mate had planned to pay cash and so had no ticket. They just waved her through and said it didn't matter. I think they did all they could in the circumstances.

I don't think a 15 min kick off delay would have been unreasonable, I thought it would be fairly standard procedure to be honest. Not suggesting they delay it by much, but I think a 15 min delay would have been reasonable but obviously plenty will still have missed some of the game regardless.

Haha indeed. I had a little chuckle when a major junction was fully blocked with a Police car and Ambulance trying to get through. The cars were still piling in even with the sirens going.

We didn't know at the time that 15 minutes would have been enough.
We were 6 miles away just before kick off and had travelled about 30 feet in half an hour.
The road was clearer once we got past Kew and the dual carriageway was clear coming up to the stadium, if it hadn't been then we probably wouldn't have made the first half.

I'm not suggesting you did. But I was under the impression that the 15 min delay was a fairly standard measure of time if a kick off is to be delayed. Now whether in the past that was because the players were also late I'm not sure. I don't think it was too much too expect in all honesty.

I must admit, I wondered if there would be a small delay myself. As I was just near the ground (about 5 minutes to kick off) I was checking this board and a few websites through my phone to see if there was a delay, since they would obviously know about the major problems and I assumed the supporters coaches were further back than I was.
5 minutes would have done me, but never mind, I got away lighter than others.
I was a little surprised when I got in the ground though how many Bulls fans were there already, considering I thought I'd be quite a way ahead of most.

| When I go to the area around Heathrow I swap to the M40 by cutting across from the M1 at Northampton - this minimizes the amount of M25 you have to contend with. You can also swap over to the M4 at Maidenhead - works quite well during the week

I know you don't play Friday nights but spare a thought for the few of us who fanatically (and bizarrely after Saturdays performance) who contend with the M6/M1 on Friday afternoon evenings many times in the season.
Sorry you had such a bad trip but maybe the 2 points releived the pain.

| It probably takes you less time to get to Catalans than it takes to get to Hull doesn't it?
O/T Is that early exit turnstile in your picture the one in the JJB?
