No pedigree as a coach IMO.

I do wonder whether the finances are so bad that it is having an effect on recruitment despite the assurances from the chairman. If not then it is down to the coach IMO.
BTW welcome back.

Pick players on form (instead of just talking about doing so), sign someone, loan in someone, recall the players we've loaned out, create competition for places and, as Mystic suggests, actually improve the players through coaching... You know, the kind of things that other club's coaches do.
McNamara's approach (of apparently doing nothing to address the problems in our halves and backs) clearly isn't working.

If you can't pay the dosh (one way or another) then you aint gonna attract the big signatures.
Macca's contract is up at the end of this year along with those of a whole shed full of players.
It's unlikey that Macca will be offered a new or extended contract so why go to the expense of sacking him now? Particularly if his intended targeted replacement is not currently available.
The absolute worst that can happen is that we finish bottom. We're not going to suffer the ignominy of relegation. If we can't afford to pay him off then let him work for a new contract. If he still doesn't deliver then shake his hand politely and jog him on at the end of his contract.

| A thing I'm looking for this year is to see us improve around the ruck. In attack we need to take the ball up with more purpose so we can get a quick ptb. Players need to work on getting the right body position so they don't get turned over.
In defence we need to get bodies in the takle and prevent the opposition doing the above to us.
This area's been a problem for some time against Hudders it was more apparent than ever.

| With few exceptions, you can never really go back. Besides which, other than "it's a job" why would Nobby want to return to Odsal? There is more to the guy than that . . . . . surely?
He did everything that could be done in the game last time. Returning would only, regardless of the way the current squad may be playing, be seen as failure/not doing as well. Not something someone like Nobby would like on his CV.

| We could do no worse than pulling out all the stops to persuade Brian McDermott to come back to Bradford.
Long association with the club and he's doing a very good job with limited resources at Quins.

If we had their results and recruitment, people on here would be spitting chips. After all, limited resources are just excuses, aren't they?

| Some major dummy spitting on here. Two games in, one draw and one loss (by a small margin) and everyone is on McNamara's back.
You'd be forgiven for thinking this is the Warrington MB - a team who have spent big, never achieved in SL and are staring down the barrel of 3 straight defeats - none of which have been close and the last one against arguably inferior opposition conceding 48 points!
I know McNamara's got his problems and personally I don't rate him much as a coach but surely you have to give him more time given the disjointed start to the season.

Maybe tons of coaches but it is about the team.
Take us (Wigan) we have a good coach in Nobby who since he has left Bradford won nothing because you had a good team

If McNamara was going to be sacked, it should have been done at the end of last season. Getting rid now would certainly be premature having only played two games and with the new faces needing time to gel.
After five games if the Bulls don't have a win it would be permissable to let McNamara go, but only in the case of there being no hope for improvement (i.e. big losses as opposed to narrow defeats). I don't know what precise conditions need to be met for him to go but Bradford aren't there ...yet.

Worse off? In your opinion. In fact, much is better about the team this year, the pack (though now Burgess out with ligaments to add to Langers and Solo) is the best in the SL. How much better than the best in SL do you actually want?
"The issue"? What issue? You did no such thing, you wee fibber! At the start of last season, you were lauding his signings etc. (I quoted you). All you could do was pathetically bluster about how sad you thought it was someone trawling your posts, to show you up. So give us a break.

Well, we sort of all did (even you). It was decided that at least 10 games was not unreasonable. I realise it is very windy in your ivory tower, so I can only presume the sand has blown away, but still.

Seriously I reckon 10 games in is a decent start. Even then we'd have to be pretty sure.
I don't think the club can afford to go paying people off willy nilly. There's no relegation this season so any change now would be too premature.
I can't say I'm happy how things have developed over the past 18 months but as I said if we see some youngsters come through and some improvement in existing players this season I'll be relatively happy.
If we're still struggling to score points, unable to defend around the ruck and refusing to bring through the kids by game 10 then I won't be as sympathetic.

Didn't we have these same discussions last year. Like let's wait till the new players have settled in then lets wait till June. Then it was once we have all our players back and have had pre-season we'll see the best of the team. A point a bloke who was stood near us at the Hull KR game said watching that game was like we hadn't had a break and it was still last season and he was right it hadn't felt like we had been away.
