Quote ="Roofaldo"I don't agree with getting rid of the video ref. I do, however, feel that it's used as a cop out by on field refs. Many times we've all see a try scored almost at the ref's feet yet he hands it on to the VR. Which in turn ignores the whole benifit of the doubt to the attacking side. If you think they've scored from what you've observed then they've scored. A cross field kick where theres a chance the scoring player may have gone into touch or failed to ground the ball then that's prime for a VR decision.
Refs should be encouraged to back their own calls'"
When that happened in MM last year the Bulls fans were up in arms. (So would any other teams fans have been).
Quote ="AaronBull"The thing what I will say, which is credit to McNamara's arguement is that nowadays, the video referees seem to looking to disallow the try, rather than find a reason to give it. This adds a total negative aspect to the game, and what good does this do the game if we're going to have this at EVERY match?
However, it is pleasing to hear Macca say he'll stop moaning about refs, as that is getting tiresome!'"
IMO the VR should be looking for a reason do disallow a try. If he cannot categorically see a reason to disallow it he has to give benefit of the doubt.
