He wasn't wanted by Leeds due to his constant injuries and his dodgy wrist (which has been operated on twice since Leeds got rid!)

How to get him out? If administration occurs the contract he's on isn't worth the paper it's written on. When the new owners try to resign him on a low wage (40k) is all he's worth on his form over the last 2 seasons. He will reject this and then bulls will say ok, we will make u redundant! Sign him. Going into a season with 4 props would be suicidal. They aren'y any coming through the academy apart from Mcavoy, but he's too young.

Eh I have no idea how you can say too young. Bateman at 18, Burgess at 18, T.Burgess at 18/19, Southernwood at 18, O'Brien at 18. McAvoy's age doesn't matter, its ability and physicality. Id play him against Widnes, give him a game see if he can handle it.

Playing him against Widnes is not a full season. What happens when we have Leeds, Wigan etc.

Am all for giving young players the chance, but only if their good enough and Mcavoy is totally unproven. Going into a season with Hargreaves, Kopczak, Manuokafoa, Burgess & Mcavoy is asking for trouble. What if two of our props are injured and we're left with two first team props and a young kids who has no experience. What about if Burgess or Mcavoy go horribly out of form and their confidence?

Yup. we need Scruton as 5th prop. Younger Props can be brought on in their own time

But on the wage he's supposedly on he should be a top prop at any club, not a 5th choice.

Do feel really sorry for how its gone for him, but I am worried that even when fit if he'll be able to get back to the level he was at.

I think bob means one of the five that we need as a minimum given one of them will be injured at any time in the season, so five goodns is a necessity.

I would reiterate we desperately need a 5th Prop and Scruton will be that. Whether he ranks 1-5 depends on his future performances. I hope to hell he comes back as an avenging angel. We need that

I meant play McAvoy this season against Widnes and possibly Wakefield see how he goes, gets him a couple of games under his belt.

McAvoy doesn't look strong enough to me yet. He's a bg lad but is a bit of a way off SL yet IMO of course.

Funnily enough - and I agree with you about McAvoy - I though the same about Tom Burgess; a big lad but not quite SL quality, but he's proved me wrong (though he's still far from the finished article, especially on ball retention) and looks very promising.

How can younger lads like McAvoy get experience and how do we know that they aren't good enough if we don't give them a game or two.

Generally I think you can tell if they're ready for SL by watching them in the U20s, I'm all for giving them the odd game provided it's against the right opposition.

At the moment I think McAvoy looks very promising but he doesn't seem to win the collision as often as he might for a lad his size. In SL he could get smashed so I think it's right to bring him in gradually. He's still young and has time for the strength to catch up with the size.

At his fully fit best, Scruton is by some distance the best prop we have. Sadly, those days are becoming a murky memory. His groin injury may prove to be more significant in his inability to recapture those times than he or anyone would like. I hope I'm wrong.

spot on GB. Hargreaves looks a different player this year, Langley, Donaldson before he got injured, so fingers crossed Nick too will be back.

Yup. Albeit Hargreaves lateral marker defence needs hauling into shape. His sideways movement is laboured and critically slow. Whether that's through having to play further time spells as a result of low prop numbers is another issue.

He looks quite small to me.

There was one season when he was in blistering form, only to pick up an injury near the back end of the season. He's never been the same since.
