| So far this week I have received an e-mail from the club about the dine in the Coral offer being extended for the Wigan game, and notification of the new on-line ticket facility - so they seem to be getting the messaging out to registered fans at least.
Bit short notice to round up the crew for this Sunday's lunch - but if the club could confirm they will run this for the remaining home games I would certainly have a dabble.
I agree getting new punters to try out the Bulls is a big task, but trying to work on getting some former fans back probably has a better chance of success and we all know there are several thousand of them.

The offer was on the website in the store for a good couple of months, granted a couple of those weeks were after the deadline had finished but it was there for all to see.

| Quote ="Ferocious Aardvark"Fookin hell, might it? Astonishing. Hang on ... you don't suppose that, er, that's the precise reason why they did it?
"Rubbish"? Well, seemingly you would be the expert:
I said that all offers have been on the website. They have and this one has and is.
How is that "rubbish"?
I said a mailshot would cost at least a couple of grand. It would. How is that "rubbish"?
I asked what else they could do to communicate to " recent/regular supporters" that they don't already do?" You moronically profferred your marketing expertise with these suggestions -
a) Twitter- the offer was already tweeted, you muppet
b) Facebook - but the offer was already put up on the Facebook page, muppet
c) Emails? Database? But they already use the database, muppet, I get emails from them regularly.
Oh, and they couldn't just make a free post on this forum, either, under the AUP official club advertising requires permission. In any case as the offer was posted in this very thread, a second thread would be a waste of time.
I said "this mantra of "better marketing" that people keep harping on about (by no means just at the Bulls) is just largely wishful thinking by people who know little about it". You are clearly a prime example of these sort of people. Here you are, pontificating about why don't they do this, and that, and t'other - when in fact they already do, and have done, and you didn't know, and couldn't be arrsed to check, before making a complete prat of yourself. So how stupid do you feel now?
I suggest you get back in your box, and learn some manners.'"
Wow you really have got your knickers in a twist
You suggested that anyone who is looking for offers should ask! I was pointing out that these offers need to be correctly advertised so that people that might not be actively looking notice these offers, simple really.
The club have two of my email addresses, from pledging and being a season ticket holder for many years, up until this year. I never get any emails at all from the club to either email address, no offers or anything. I wonder how many more people are the same, it seems quite a lot.
I was suggesting Facebook, Twitter, forums, email drop etc as free marketing ideas, not necessarily relating to this one offer. A few weeks ago the club offered the discount on clothing after full time, something hardly anyone knew about, causing a lot of bad feeling, great marketing. People have also mentioned that there was a half season ticket available before the season started, which a lot of people also didn't know about. There is nothing stopping someone from the club having a private account and posting a link to offers when they are available on here and other forums, this offer may have been mentioned on here, but clearly many other haven't.
Do I feel silly for pointing out where the club is failing? No, no I don't.

| They've had my email address for years too, including submitting it a couple of times during the pledge. I never received anything about tickets or offers this year. I don't delete anything and I've just checked - beyond acknowledgement of purchase for this offer my last email from the club was in 2011.

| I have thought for most of this season that the marketing has been pretty quiet from the Bulls.
I'm willing to be understanding to the new regime, given everything that they have needed to resolve since the take over, but this needs to be improved to get the fans back to the games.
Numerous times I have driven past the stadium in recent weeks to find that the new signs that state the name of the next opponent have not been updated, in fact, I'm not sure they have ever been used. Simple things such as this make a difference.

You were suggesting that the club's marketing was at fault for not doing things which, it turns out, it is in fact already doing. That's what has made you look silly. Having pointed out to you they HAD used exactly those media to publicise the offer we were discussing, you should stop digging. As for "Not necessarily relating to this one offer..." my arrse, that straw-clutch would only be of relevance if the Bulls didn't use Twitter, email Facebook for anything else, when in fact they use it all the time.
Would it be too demeaning for you to simply fess up and say "Soz, Bulls, I never knew you were actually on social media already"?
Now, I think my work with you is done. Keep digging, or shoulder your shovel, up to you, I don't care.

Quite ironic that they managed to send me a 2 for 1 offer at Khan's restaurant, yet nothing to do with the club which was the reason I gave them my emails addresses in the first place.

They already have our email addresses. It's they who benefit from *our* business. It's no solution to say that everyone who's bought from them in the past and might possibly in the future submit their details again in order to receive notification of deals. They already have the data.
If they can't figure out how to use it then that's on them, it's not the responsibility of those that haven't been marketed to to resolve that issue for them. We've already expressed our interest by giving them money, purchasing tickets and ticking a box giving them permission to use it.
I have now created an account in their new ticket purchasing system. I would hope this solves the problem for me, but if they're only using that database rather than every one they've had then it's not on us to point out how frankly self defeating they're being. If they threw away the ancien regime's data then that's their fault.

| Well if I wasn't getting the emails I found other fans are, I'd rather tell them and start getting the emails, as it would be easier and quicker and more productive than whingeing about it on a forum instead. I never said anyone has an [iobligation[/i to tell them but on this point don't see what I would gain by bagging them on here as an alternative.
I've no idea what database/s they have/use/acquired so can't comment on that. Aren't marketing databases notoriously dodgy?

Well I personally am discovering for the first time that others *are* getting the emails I am not, and thus we are all discovering the strangeness of the data they do have and what they have not retained.
We are fans with an interest in the club. We are not bagging them. We are discussing the situation. They now have my email address (again). It's my login name in their current ticket purchasing system. I normally buy tickets in the office after a game, but I haven't this year because it seems like a time when thousands of people who can reasonably expected to be interested and in the immediate vicinity isn't an appropriate time to have the ticket office open these days. (That was me bagging the club.)
They had 10,000+ purchasers of STs. Now they do not. Are the shortfall all to forward their email addresses again? Has the difference been thrown away? Talking about these things is not hating on the club, it is wondering aloud wtf happened.
My own supposition is that half of it was in a cruddy MS Access database on a computer that was hastily sold / returned to a supplier / lost to a fit of pique when administration happened.
It makes one wonder how much of the shortfall in STs from last year to this is due to recession, changing circumstances or missed opportunities. A decent push on these tickets in various media may well make up some of that shortfall.

| I only know that when I went to get my season ticket post-takeover, my details were on the computer they had, so I expect it was the same system/database.
Of course it might not be the only database in use, and like all databases, it will operate on a GIGO basis. The new online ticket sales facility seems like a very good bit of progress though according to that, the status of my current membership is "not renewed"

Quote ="Czech Bull"Also out of interest, is this really all the clothing the club is currently offering?

Most of the new clothing isn't on the website. It arrived the day after the discount sale which got people's backs up. Presumably reason the sale was to clear space in storeroom. The shop manager tweeted pictures of most of the new gear during that week but then had his contract terminated before it was put on the web shop, which was part of his job function. Presumably he hasn't been replaced yet, hence the new stuff still not being on shop. Certainly wont be helping with sales figures.

Thanks for the reply, yes certainly won't be helping sales. Hopefully they will get it sorted soon, for the club and also because I want to order some items.

A few weeks ago I received a random a4 application form through the post with some of details hand written on (incorrectly) but with no cover letter. It was an application form for the Bulls lottery but nowhere did it explain what the prizes were, how many draws there would be or basically any information you might like to know before joining. Now I took it upon myself to go online and fill in the blanks myself, so yes the marketing can certainly be improved without breaking the bank.'"
I got the one about the lottery, saying it was going up to £2 and that they were changing banks, though when I tried to change the debit on-line, my bank's system wouldn't let me change the details saying that the account details they'd given me didn't exist.
I looked on the website later and found that the last figure on the a/c no. they'd sent out was actually wrong, hence the error message. I've now put in the new figure and it's been accepted, someone's bad transcription though.

I went in after the Salford game and bought a few things. Some decent stuff there including the polo tops. Seems to be some variation in the sizes compared to the replica kit though. I'm a large in the kit but a medium in the polo shirts so watch out if you are ordering online.

You would to be honest, though I think he really works in the corporate client sector for Shudds, rather than trying to appeal to general fans.
