Having spoken to a couple of bradford players i find it absolutely astonishing the contracts that were offered to them to play championship rugby. Frightening numbers... almost imposible to meet in this league unless you are derek beaumont. Shaking my head at the situation you are in but bug ger me... there's no bloody wonder if those two contracts are typical....

I couldn't say I'm fairly new to the party when it comes to twitter, but yesterday he tweeted he was hoping to speak to Marc Green on his show later in the day, only for that tweet to mysteriously disappear and no such appearance from Marc Green materialised!

Well I'm guessing that we'll know exactly who's Mick's talking about if we listen to the BCB show. There may be a bit of interest tonight so hopefully he won't end up with egg on his face ..again.

What sort of numbers are we talking though? Take Leigh out of the equation who have DB pumping money in to the club and you will find players at teams like Fax and Fev on 30K per year playing part time and when you consider that Bradford probably average crowds of maybe 2 and 3 times what either of their teams manage is it really unheard of the possibility of them having a number of players heading towards the 100K mark? If the figures are more than that then yes it would be easy to see how they have run in to such problems.

They should be able to cut those costs pretty soon though if they so wished as most of their contracted players will be able to talk to other teams pretty soon.

All depends which players you were talking about. I wouldn't be surprised if these players were not home grown and stuck with the club after relegation from Super League, but if you're talking home grown talent, I would share your surprise in general.

Maybe its one of the reasons for divides in the camp especially when its some of the better players that do not even get a quarter of that sort of money. The thing is though on the sort of crowds they get they should easily be able to sustain a team at this level and still have some players earning big money. I know they have reduced funding compared to SL but their crowds are still more on a lot of occasions compared to a number of SL teams which should bridge that funding gap. I agree that it does make you wonder about the set up.

Just remember London are also sustained by a millionaire and are £15million in debt to him. I am told they have a player who's package (including housing, car etc) is measured at over £200k per annum.....madness

I dont see whats wrong with what he's said. I'm talking to unions and am extremely concerned too, but I'm being paid.

If plan was for Green to make up shortfall in income from missing out on middle 8 gates by making a cash injection, Then rumours about his finances being frozen could explain most of whats been going on. Presumably whilst he was in country he also had meetings with RFL. Their silence on issues occuring seems a bit odd to say the least.
