Whats Robbie doing these days?I know it goes against alot of what i have said previous about getting rid of all old bull ties, but on the face of it thats not going to happen so why not get someone in who relates to the fans, knows what its like to win things here, someone with a pull to all the good community work the club used to do and finally someone to put a bit of pride back in the jersey. step forward mr hunter-paul

Robbie is working at the Huddersfield Giants as Business Development Manager. Basically charged with expanding the Giants supporter and corporate base. What's the betting that he is successful there too.

I think if we keep playing like this it should expand the Giants base no end

Seems fair. Those of us thas aren't from Halifax come from there anyway.

Speaking of the Giants, Crabtree gave an interview saying they've got a psychologist in to help them out with the mental side of the game. We've seemed like needing someone like that recently.

We need a b*stard in the dressing room, pure and simple. Someone who's going to kick some ass. It's time to stop pussy-footing around. If we aren't the most skillful and gifted team in the league we need to be the hardest.

Isn't that exactly the sort of thing you can do when you have a financial benefactor though? Sprint coaches, pre-season training in exotic locations, specialist kicking coach etc - even if we were all spending the same on the cap it [istill[/i wouldn't be an even competition.

If Mick thinks Sunday gone was a humiliation though, there may be far worse to come; the next two home games are against Warrington and Saints. Personally I can't see any wins there, so we may well lose our first [ifour[/i home games. There is still a long long way to go this season though, so I'm not going to get upset about losing games I didn't expect to win, even if I'd hoped we might be a bit more competitive. Let's get more of the new players into the side and up to match speed, and more especially let's play a few more games that are not against teams who are certainties to be in the top four: After that I'll consider whether I feel 'humiliated' or not.

The cost of the psyche inputs would be far less than the cost of someone in the bottom end of your ft squad. Depends which you think will contribute most to overall team performance in SL games.

That's certainly an interesting way of looking at it.

There was a whole thread on Robbie getting the job at Hudds when the news first came out, general consensus was that the club had missed a trick. I haven't changed my mind.

Need a proven coach but a change of assistants is probably a good idea to ensure a break with past mediocrity.

What happened to Paul Medley - is he still at the club? By all accounts of his performances at fans forums he could do good job for you as motivator.

British Army Physical Training Instructors?

He is still at the club running the youth team. He certainly talks the talk at the forums, but it doesn't seem to affect performances on the pitch.

Medley as coach for the last 20% of each season. Super-coach.

Nice bloke, good talker, seems to talk a good game. Hard to say if he's up to coaching a 1st team as coaching the kids is a different challenge in some ways.

True enough. Though I think it's fair to say that many head coaches probably wouldn't be very good at coaching the juniors either. The ability to connect with kids and get the message across is, maybe not rare but it's certainly not one that everyone has. Bringing juniors through the grades is a very important skill in any club and no less important than the head coach in many ways imo.

I would much rather the coach of my team had worked his way up through the ranks than expect to coach a SL team straight from retirement. Shows a bit of humbleness.

It's strange why they do that isn't it. I know, both in soccer and rugby they 'do' their badges and do courses but then, just on the basis that they were decent players they take on a top level team on a sort of 'sink or swim' basis. It's totally illogical.
