| how did McAvoy get on against Keighley? He might be used as the extra prop at some points in the season?

| My thoughts on today:-
Patty & Sykes won't get a look in unless we are desperate. Poor from both.
Scruton & Hargreaves didn't step up enough, they need to up their game by 20% if they are going to be the starting props.
Kearney is great under highball and returning the ball, but I worry about his ability to defend as last man.
Crookes looked fast, very fast but not sure he will be a starting winger.
Walker looked rusty and slipped off too many tackles. Better in 2nd row?
Gale was quiet, but kicked well.
Jeffries was invisible. Sammut at 6 wasn't any better, but did ok at hooker apart from one awful pass to BJ / Walker.
Purtell will be ok once he settles in. He looks to have a nasty streak in him as he was "hand bagging" with Yeaman.
Kear did ok, but limited ball in hand.
Orbison tackled well, but, looks little in comparison to Hull forwards.
Joseph has been rewarded with a 1 year contract and stood out today with his effort.
Langley & Disco only played 15 mins each. Langley was out & about attend of game, Disco presumably kept back for Cats game,
O'Brien looked ok, but out of his depth. As did Bateman, but realise still only young.
All in all an ok 1st half, but we were railroaded in 2nd half, but with a young, weak side out so hard to asses true potential in my opinion.

| McAvoy didn't make any metres hardly against Keighley. But an 18 year old running at Cherryholme and Korkidas isn't going to make much ground. Tackled well though and put a massive shot on one of the Cougars players. Might do well against Widnes or Wakey but he won't get a look in otherwise.
Good to see Joseph being handed a 1 Year Deal. Looks like Potter was saving Diskin for next week.

| McAvoy looks a tad on the small side for a prop. Dunno his actual stats though.

Who's Orbison? Can't be olbison as he's out for 10 weeks.
Obrien injury puts a new light on result. 2nd half with no proper hooker where hull scored most of their tries makes more sense now.

| I don't how to feel after today to be honest because that was an extremely fired up and physical Hull FC side.
They certainly played todays game from start to finish with the intensity of a full on Super League game.
Was this a direct response to the lackluster and static performance put in Seven days ago against city rivals Hull KR?
Bradford from the word go looked lethargic (at times as if we had just welded the side together in time for kick-off) and in truth we never really recovered from losing the ball from the kick off on tackle number three - this then giving Hull FC the attacking platform deep within our own 20m, for Yeaman via Seymour to expose some fragile weak defence.
Adrian Purtell simply isn't a centre and was caught out on numerous occasions today by Yeaman & Briscoe.
This is before I mention the silly unenforced errors that helped to compile the relentless sustained Hull FC pressure in our half.
The shocking completion rate doesn't lie and tells you that we seriously lack cohesion and stability.
The game was really won up front with the massive Hull FC pack of Moa, Manu, Tickle, O'Meley & O'Carroll just battering us constantly down the middle, before the gaps appeared outwide due to the poor sliding defence for the Hull FC backline to exploit.
I said this in an earlier thread and I still stand by what I said that losing Andy Lynch is a massive loss and the repercussions we're certainly going to be felt before the news broke that new recruit Manase Manuokafoa would be sidelined for at least two months with a knee injury.
But there was some hope from the performance in that we bombed three clear trying scoring opportunities (Sammut's on the half time hooter was just one example), and that three of the nine Hull FC tries we're simply undefendable such was the expansive style of play.
The first try for Wade McKinnon and Tom Briscoe's 70th minute effort was Rugby League poetry in motion.
Seeing Crookes go the full 90m after a stray pass from Seymour shows that with the Karl Pryce situation still up in the air, we have a player who from a standing start can out pace McKinnon, Briscoe, Yeaman etc.
Langley's clash of heads with testimonial man Radford was rather unfortunate and stopped the game for close to ten minutes while the medical staff attended to him.
From what I was told it was concussion and it was great to see Jamie walking around near the touchline as the game progressed.

| As for the game, I haven't read any of this thread yet but here are my views.
Firstly, Hull looked like a team who were whipped last week in training and came out ready for this game. The Bulls on the other hand seemed lethargic and seemed to treat it as a trial.
Hulls forwards dominated though from start to finish and this was the reason for the big score and lets face it, it could have been bigger had it not been for some very good goal line defence in the 1st half by the Bulls outside backs. On the back of this forward dominance the FC kicking game was brilliant and if they didnt pin Bradford deep in thier own 10 they found touch in the Bulls 20 and it just stopped Bradford getting any momentum whatsoever.
After Bradford realised that they weren't getting anywhere by going down the middle they finally started moving the ball wide and it started to pay off. The only problem was after these long breaks the player in possession would panic (Sammut's air kick when he had 4 men outside him and only the fullback and 1 trailing defender to beat springs to mind).
At the end of the day though Hull are a good team with aspirations on a top 4 finish whereas the Bulls were missing 5 players, 4 of which were forwards, in what was already a small pack. The Bulls will need to regroup and regroup quick though. A lot of hard work will have to go into training this week and the forwards will have to come out really fired up next week. Potter also needs to decide on his 6 and start training tomorrow by keeping that combo, otherwise the Bulls will be disjointed for the foreseeable future and thats not a good thing, it's a bad thing.

Where have you heard this? He was presented with a shirt on Wed, would seem an odd thing to do if we didn't have room to sign him.

Must have been Radford's testimonial shirt. Its was predominantly white with two black strips running down the sides. The new numbers are terrible from distance too.
