Do you mean the one where gaskell knocked on, where the ref didnt blow the whistle so may have missed the knock on, therefore gaskell could have regathered the ball..elima then came in for the tackle..if the ref doesnt blow the whistle you carry on into the tackle as the player could just pick the ball up and run...

| Saints players not liking to be tackled as far as i can see, liked silverwoods explanation to elima, "you cant come in and make an aggressive tackle" strange i thought that was what the game was about.
Elima was correct though ref hadnt blown his whistle and when he told silverwood after he had been called out all the ref could say was that bit or crap, no explanation why he didnt blow the whistle when it was knocked on and it was obvious no one would benefit from it.
Same point i made last week what is the point of touch judges they missed all the forward passes, silverwood called a couple of them, they missed what looked like discos knock on in the run up to the forward pass that saints scored from and they offered nothing to the ref apart from "yeah i agree" waste of space, why not use the video ref to spot decisions and he can report to the ref what he saw, this way every game could have a video ref at them.

But Tomkins is a disgrace and [ihe [/idid his 'dying swan' act and we all know he's the current golden boy. I agree there is little difference but I don't think we will hear any more about this one. Nor should we, btw. Maybe if Whitehead had laid down with his mouth open, playing possum, we might have.........

| There was nothing in the Elima, just a good hard tackle. It was nice to see our pack play with some aggression. Bateman has been the only one to show it until last night.
I am really surprised at how well the team is playing with all the injuries. So much hard work and commitment. Long may it continue!

| I went to the exile game last year and Tomkins went down like he had been shot when one of the leeds players who was representing the exiles pushed him, that is the moment thomkins began to think he was better then everyone one from them on hes proved my point swearing to rhinos fans when they played at wembley and sliding knee first into the wire player AFTER he scored that was deliberate, nothing was done about that so how can they do elima for playing to the whistle would make no sense, also the rate silverwood was going wouldnt have surprised me if elimas hadnt made the taclke he could have waved play on ans saint would have been away.

I've seen it back twice and he has no right whatsoever to attempt to kick the ball.

I didnt really get the significance of the ref not blowing his whistle. With most late tackles the ref hasnt blown his whistle. As I saw it Gaskell didnt have the ball so couldnt be tackled.

I am waiting for it to come on line before I can watch it again. Listening to Jamie Bloem on Radio Leeds yesterday, who is now a referee & commentated on the game, he said "If the ball is on the floor Foster has got to have the right to kick it" (or something along those lines), followed by "When his boot makes contact with Whitehead's face it has to be a penalty". It seems Bloem thinks he has. The only reason I can see that Foster couldn't go for the ball is if Whitehead had already scored the try, which I don't believe he had at the time.
I expected some opposition to my view but I didn't expect it to crash the site.

| Whitehead had the ball in his hands, on the floor. Pretty sure that Foster had no need to thus kick him in the face. But penalty was duely given so no complaints from me.

| It was better done sooner than later. Especially with 3 big games coming up & losing 4 in a row. Nothing anyone can do now anyway.

| Think it may be a case of the the chelski about saint, chelsea FC players didnt like villas-boas so didnt play or put any effort in so he was sacked and they got their own way so are now playing very well as a result.
I expect saints to win at least 2 of theirs next 3 games

| Sacking is not always the best option though. Simmons has been having a tough time, but he's proven more as a coach than Cunningham, whats to say Cunningham won't do worse?
When we sacked Macca and St Hilaire took over, we saw no improvement.
Think Saints have jumped the gun a bit (admittedly I don't see them on a week to week basis) as Simmons did ok last season. Roby is integral to that Saints side. Think Saints rely on him more than any other club rely on a player in the league (think only Sinfield comes close) so to be without him plus LMS, Soliola etc you are going to struggle.

| Roby is apparently back for this Sunday's game. If not Sunday he's definitely back for Wire. We will just have to see if there is any improvement come Sunday. Alot of people knew it was coming though. 5 games without a win.

| Lyons a quality player but will be 31 at the start of next season and probably won't come cheap. Would still be a great signing though.
Funny Saints now have full faith in Rush and Cunningham. Seem to remember them saying the same about Simmons, but a few injuries and bad losses and he's gone.

| In that logic we should be bottom and potter would have been, long gone lol.
Seems like the saints players didnt seem to care on sat and it showed similar to bradford when we played wigan & catalan at start of the season, bulls players have more heart now and seem to be trying something i havent seen in a while

| Eamonn McManus said that he has got every faith in Rush & Cunningham. They each know the club inside out and have all the experience together to move us forward. I've always liked Cunningham - He's a top guy & a Saints legend never to be forgotten. Could never say a bad word about him.
