From what I've seen they are only stopping it for next year, not abolishing it completely. Problems with players moving back and forth between clubs during Covid are reason given.

Hopefully they'll forget to bring it back....

I assume everyone saw that following on from the announcement there are unlikely to be any games (or at least any games without spectators) until March, and the difficulty in selling ST's in the current climate, Bulls will be using the government loan facility that the RFL are looking after. I don't think any other clubs have been upfront about using it yet, have they?

I'm pretty sure the applications have to be in in the fairly immediate future so they'd better be quick.

SL clubs put in for it when it was originally announced. Certain Leeds, Cas and both Hulls have said they were applying. Championship clubs have held back until its become clear season is unlikely to start until march/april next year, making it difficult to sell season tickets yet. Donated season ticket revenue from this year plus staff/players being paid by furlough scheme probably means they could have got by without applying if season was going to start on time.

Thing tot remember is its only a loan, albeit one with long repayment terms, so clubs arent going to use it unless they really have to. Thats what annoyed me about T&A article yesterday sayings bulls were going to RFL for a 'handout'. They didnt make it clear that it was a loan or that most clubs were applying.

He's a brilliant prospect for Leeds but maybe not yet really ready for regular SL games. I don't see the connection with Gareth O'Brien though, IIRC he was coming as a 'full' contracted player not a loan and if Leeds change their mind he'll be back after a month. Another exciting player to keep us interested.

Pretty certain we had what we were told were season long loans recently where there turned out to be a recall clause after first month.

IIRC they were intended to be season long and were announced as such,but parent club register them as a one month initial loan which then becomes a rolling loan with instant recall after first month. We then dont get the player back after recall as that would trigger another 1 month no recall period. Seem to think it was Leeds that used this method with us last time.

In general loans, after the first month, were as per contract/agreement with the loaning club with regard to recalls but covid definitely puts a different slant on things.

good point about bubble restrictions. I guess players could still move between bubbles but would need to go through a 10-14 day quarantine period each move, So any loans would be likely to be longer term. Wonder how clubs that were heavily dependent on dual reg are going to cope. Wonder if we're going to see a few leeds youngsters released and joining fev on 1 year deals then re-joining leeds in 2022.

Fev already have a 26-man squad with at least one more player set to be announced so I doubt it, there would be nowhere for them to play anyway with no reserves grade any more.

Even April looks unlikely, imo and if it's later before we can get fans in (and some money) then it's looking desperate, tbh.
