| I want the order of fixtures to be:
Sheffield (H) - should win this one and give Gaskell and Mullaney a chance to get back up to speed.
Widnes (H) - if we beat Sheffield we'll be a little more confident having already got 2 points on the board.
Hull KR (A) - if Rovers make the Challenge Cup Final, this game will be played the week before IIRC. Will the Rovers players prioritise a home game vs a Championship team over a Cup Final?
Halifax (H) - very capable of winning this one with our best players out there.
Leigh (A) - real tough game at the LSV but with our key players available it's very possible that we can get a win there.
Salford (H) - tough game against SL opposition.
Wakefield (A) - could be the decider for 3rd/4th/5th

| First post on this site so a bit like first speeches are made in The House of Commons - not controversial. I hope we perform well enough in the eights to gain promotion to Super League. I was hoping that with Warrington signing Chris Sandow perhaps they might have a half back to spare like Gareth O'Brien but it would appear not.

I have a sneaking feeling that if we play Leigh first we might catch them cold.
But since we play 4 at home it will probably be a home game. If they're televising them I could see Sky picking Bradford v Salford or Widnes to kick it off.

| yes, probably 4th so home advantage. There are so few games - 7 - that its going pretty much to be difficult to get away from a straight 14 12 10 8 6 4 2 and 0 points, tho there are some variations on that, especially if three teams all have 8 points so third equal or 6 points so fourth equal, I assume that fourth and fifth would be decided on points difference. the top three all getting 10 points makes no difference nor does the bottom three all getting two points each. I am of course ignoring draws
And this formula is good in one sense: any Championship team getting promotion should be able to make a go of it in SL, indeed if two teams are good enough they get promotion, if none are good enough then none get promoted. Better than one "best of a bad bunch" getting automatically promoted and then annihilated each and every game. My gripe is with the refereeing - it should be the same otherwise the championship sides are at a disadvantage - and that the salary cap is not the same, so that owners who wanted to donate money to their club could do so.

| There are a lot of things weighted towards the SL clubs, let's hope arrogance is one of them and one of the Championship clubs can upset the apple cart.

Any side currently in the championship which attempted to play the same team in SL would soon find itself on the fast track back to division 2, imo.

Not quite, they'll announce who and when the first home game will be, but that doesn't mean it'll be our first game.

| Well, yeah that's true, but with four home and three away you'd assume we'll start, and finish with a home. Though, I agree there are no guarantees, and I wouldn't book any holidays on the strength of it.

| Plus, you'll be able to tell by the date if it's going to be the first or second game. But I'd guess that it'd start with the top 4 at home.

Given Halifax and Sheffield share their stadiums there might be some working around availability, but the most sensible arrangement would be as you've described...however we recently went nearly 2 months without a home fixture

| There is the footy, that's true, though footy is pretty invariably on the Saturday so Sunday games [or even Friday shouldn't really be a problem. Not sure about the Sky games, though I did hear a rumour they are going to want Saturdays for the middle eights, so we'll have to wait and see what happens on that one.

Sky have said the middle 8's on TV would be shown on Saturdays. Having said that it's unlikely that Halifax FC would have enough home matches for August/Sept to make alternate home/away fixture lists possible.

And if the first game is away, presumably it will be announced on the home club's website this evening?
Seems a bit odd. My guess is that it will be announced this evening that Bulls v Salford or Widnes will be the televised game that will launch the Middle 8s

| Thread on Leigh board saying some fixtures have been leaked. We start with fax at home then Hull KR away. If those are the actual fixtures of course.

| There have been so many guesses that one of them is bound to be correct!
If I'm honest, I can't imagine why everyone is sooo het up about hearing immediately. For sure, I want to know too, but it'll do tomorrow......
