| Quote ="HamsterChops"The thing is, it's a fairly minor gripe in the scheme of things, I think everyone realises. But it's also one of those "it's bloody obvious you could be making some money here" situations too.
Nobody is expecting the glory days of curry and pizza options across the concourse. But if the food is so low of a standard that you'd prefer to eat outside the ground, it's missing out on revenue. I know there's a sweet van at the back of the stand, so there's no point selling chocolate in the bars. But things like crisps, nuts, scratchings last bloody ages and you can buy them in bulk. They're not "high risk" items that if someone doesn't buy them on Sunday, they go to waste. You can just keep putting em out until you're low and buy some more. If they did get near date, you sell em at cost price.
No doubt the club will have bigger priorirties and I'd rather see them run out of snacks than beer (which is surely a reasonable source of income even with the higher prices this season). But is it that hard to buy a few boxes of Seabrooks from a (very) local supplier?
I think people are less worried about going a little hungry than they are about the revenue the club is potentially missing out on. Whilst it may be fairly small revenue per pie, it adds up. And in our recent situations, you'd think every little helps.'"
Pretty sure the caterers used to be concessions, so I'm guessing they still are. If so, then the club won't lose by the caterers losing sales, the caterers will, at least until next season when they won't want to pay as much for their pitch. It is in the club's interest to keep their customers satisfied though, so may a re-think would be in order, maybe with the odd extra (pie and crisp) retailer being brought in.

| Good call!
Greggs seem to be the purveyor of choice in the district - amazed they don't have some kind of booth set up in the ground.

Greggs? How posh are you?
If you're smart you go to pound bakery.

| Just out of curiosity. In the past where have the best pies been? Can't say I have ever had one at Odsal, just the standard £2.50 for 10 chips and £4 for a burger worse than McDonalds.
I remember them having a hog roast though behind the away end! Now that was gorgeous!

| Pies at Odsal are a relatively recent (but very welcome) addition. Much better than the ratburgers on sale. Usually on sale in the bars on the concourse.
Though not anymore for some unknown reason.
So I'll keep my money in my pocket.
Batley pies are great apparently but I've never made it to the front to the queue to get one.

| They did have a pie and pea stall behind the south west terrace many moons ago - I can definitely vouch for those.

Can another club loan us a pie van until we get the visa and our bank account sorted out; assuming it wont count against our loan quota.
Did the RFL not write into the purchase of the bulls that the new owner must provide pies at all home games?
Next thing you know the RFL will sub us a pie van - bloomin RFL pets makes you sick

The hog roast was amazing. Hot fresh pork sandwich with optional apple sauce and a bit of crackling for about £4 was nicer than any burger or pie I've ever eaten at a rugby ground. I was a regular at that particular stand!
The Burrito stand was also good that appeared for about 2 or 3 games last season. Not enough people going to it to justify it sadly.
Unfortunately I agree on things like chips and burgers, they're terrible at Odsal (and all rugby grounds to be fair) and have been as long as I remember. Occasionally I get hungry enough to have one and instantly regret it. That's all that now seems to be on sale, along with sausage and sweets.
Until that changes, I too will grab myself a fish butty from the chip shop nearby.
I always enjoy any club that sells Rollover Hot Dogs. Not sure if any of those in the Championship though. I had two of the buggers at Huddersfield in the friendly.
I wasn't aware of the Batley Pie quality though, I may have to try that when we visit them this season.

Spot on that, £4 was fantastic! I too was a regular. I committed a cardinal sin once for one of the hog roast sandwiches....Had a fiver left and I had a choice between that and a pint Would do the same again! Hope they bring in back!
Did not know there was ever a burrito stand!! Gutted about that or I would have been there! But yeah the burger and chips are appalling and I only have them if I have been busy and forgot to eat beforehand!
Where's this chip shop? Are you on about the one over the road from Cue Gardens? If so, what are the fish butties like there? I may have to pop in before the game haha!

| Update:
I've found where they sell crisps behind the stand. And McCoys at that. The sweet van sells em.
Also, I went in the bar last night to see..... wait for it..... Bullseye are you reading?... PIES! They had the Pukka Pie things stocked full when I popped in the bar. Unless they were plastic, it looks like they've finally started selling them again.

| Indeed the pies are back, and they are Pukka pies - Steak & Ale, Beef & Onion or Chicken. Pie and a pint was just the job, if not bargain priced.
