I am not sure how it can be compared to Chase's last week tbh. Chase went in with the elbow. As it appears he likes to quite often.

It was nothing like Chase's 'tackle'. Chase made direct contact with Hardaker's head and raised his forearm in the process.

So the video ref has club tinted glasses on as well then!!

IMO it would have been a fair tackle had O'Brien had the ball, which is the main difference with Chase. However it was still an illegal tackle as O'Brien had passed the ball & Scruton had time to relax the intensity of his tackle but not prevent the impact. I have effected that tackle many times & had it dished out to me. You don't get many chances in a match to line up a player like that & Scruton couldn't resist the opportunity that had just past (or passed). It was not a sending off offence, but would have been 10 minutes if ruled late, so it will be interesting to see what the outcome is if he is referred belatedly.

Meh, looked OK to me. The one thing I did find distasteful was one of the Bulls players holding aloft an imaginary card trying to influence Ganson into sin-binning a Cas player, which he was going to do anyway. No need for it - it isn't "soccer".

Maybe we should play with them yellow tassles stuck to players shorts that way there is no risk of death caused by shoulder in our game!

I personally thought both the hit/push on blythe and the off the ball hit by whitehead were 2 worse incidents as at least o'brien was probably expecting to be tackled!

It was slightly late and nick hit shoulder to shoulder, it was the whiplash from o'briens neck that caused him to go off, he is also on loan from wire so cas had to make sure he was ok, it was nothing like chase or busquets who hit him a good 5 seconds after he had passed the ball whereas as soon as o'brien passed he was hit nothing a prop can do about that no way can a 16 stone guy pull out of the tackle

Didn't see this yesterday as I was out a Giants match, but having read about this "dreadful tackle" I watched the Sky replay this morning with some interest. Scruton's tackle was a little late so a penalty, no more than that. It has been blown out of proportion because Phil Clark immediatly compared it to the bad one by the Catalans prop the previous week. It was nothing like it.

Having watched it O'brien took one step between passing and the hit, not three or four. Because of the way his body was turned Scruton may not even have seen the pass. Not the best tackle, but no malice imo.

Couldn't have said it better. If you take on the line as a half back you are going to get hits like this....committed,slightly after the ball has gone and most importantly not malicious

Seriously, if a Giant's fan thinks the hit wasn't too bad (and lets face it we aren't having a mutual lovefest of late) then that says something.

I was disgusted to be a Bulls fan after this attack. If Scruton doesn't get a 10000 match ban for that considering the angelic Rangi got two matches then there's something up.

In all seriousess it should have been a penalty but that was it. We're bound to get melodramatic over reaction bile from cas fans like Nottinghamtiger and tigertot but that's due to bias nothing else.

Nowt in it TBH. These things happen all throughout the season and nowt gets mentioned. I reckon these poor Cas fans are just being a bit touchy cos they lost their star player for a couple of games and, as such, they are baying for blood.

If Chase was not serving a ban TBH I doubt nobody from Cas would have remembered the incident, never mind keep banging on about it.

Absolutely no difference to Chase sitting in the stand making a gesture everytime a Bulls player committed an offence in all honesty.

It may well be distasteful and two wrongs don't make a right but Chase was caught on camera a few times "encouraging" the ref to make a decision. Who is to say that the Bulls player was not just getting in a wee bit of retaliation?

Sour grapes which is what we always get after a win against either of the two Wakefield clubs tbh

In fairness I was one of the few Cas fans that said Chase deserved to be banned, and we would gain nothing from Scruton getting banned. I just think the game, as a whole, needs to address the problem we have at the moment with the number of playersn having to leave the field with head injuries. Last week we had a player stop breathing, it won't be long before something worse happens. Obviously, this is my opinion and others are free to have their own!

Whether Chase was dealt with harshly or not is an entirely diff issue. Scruton ctaches him late but was arguably commited to the tackle. Had it not been late it would have been fine. It should have been a penalty in my opinion.

Last week a player stopped breathing after a pretty blatant foul that struck him in the head. It should have been more than four tackles for that as it was a cheap shot.

Chase possibly got two games as a result of media attention but that was a foul none the less.

Just watched the Scruton tackle again, nothing wrong at all, shoulder to shoulder, committed to the tackle.

Thought it was a 50/50 call, if a penalty had been given I wouldn't have complained, no more than that though. As aways incidents look worse in slow motion, plus with the angle of the players I'm not 100% certain that Scruton could even see that the ball had been released. A massive fuss about nothing.

Start by getting Chase to keep his elbows down then! Maybe, if you are so strongly opposed to these dangerous tackles, you should post your disgust every time Chase does one of his headshots. You should contact e club and the RFL to complain about him. It might not win you many friends on the Cas boards, but at least you will be able to feel you are doing your bit to stamp it out.

If it had been penalised I would have disagreed but accepted it, to be honest. At the end of the day, a big bloke running flat out can't pull up on a sixpence...or even a two pence piece and despite what anyone says Scruton didn't catch the head.

Maybe we either make tackling illegal or stop telling ball carriers to leave it until the tackler is 'on them' before passing the ball - that'll certainly end the problem, even if it kills the game...

Wasting your time. Honest debate is dead on RL forums. Very few people can see past their own colours. It's a shame really, we're headed down the same path as football.
