My two cents:

I can somewhat excuse it when it's teenagers, they tend to be extreme in everything that they do and it's perhaps the first time they are experiencing that tribal 'togetherness' feeling, in combination with a few drinks it's bound to make them a bit rowdy. They might well look back on themselves in a few years and cringe. However once they are past 19 it ceases to become 'one of those things'. There is no excuse for drunken thirty something's who probably have families themselves hurling obscenities all game and staggering around the place intimidating people. It's nigh time some of the older ones grew up and started setting an example.

You know when you star out part of a word, you're still meant to spell the remaining bits correctly right? Or have you not got to spelling in English class yet?

I think it's also a matter of chavs like "Bradford's Top Lad" there, seeing the rugby as a chance to go out with their mates, have a few underage beers and get rowdy. The chav element could certainly be cleared by the bars being a little more strict on asking for ID.

I for one look a lot younger than I actually am. I still continue to get asked in Tesco occasionally for ID when buying alcohol I've been legally buying for over 13 years. I've never been asked at a rugby ground. That itself tells me that they're not as strict.

I was thinking of taking some friends of mine, with their children, to the next game. They've never seen a live rugby match before. I'm afraid that, after reading this thread, I've decided not to do that. Too many posters are condoning this behaviour.

I wouldn't take it that far. Despite its little fractions, the terraces at Odsal are pretty good mannered. RL needs all the new supporters it can get its hands onto. The little drunk chavs tned to appear at away games where they're not really known and think they can get away with it (which unfortunately they probably can until some stops them).

For a newbe supporter i'd advise the stand as it has a more family atmosphere. For more emotion you can't beat the Popular Terrace (above the tunnel).

They'll be fine at a home match, its more spaced out and the fans aren't as concentrated as the Western terrace. Popular stand or Main stand should be fine

I think you name somes you up. Unfortunately you seem to have mistaken Rugby League for football and think your some kind of leader of a firm. I bet you've also got a load of chavy little friends that you hang round with.

Well here's the thing. I have known and worked with real firm leaders from City and i'm just guessing that your too weak and timid to actaully have a go at being a real hard man so you picked a sport where a large majority of the fans will not get involved in violence, where no-one actually have a go and will probably just stand back and let you get on being a kn*b.

Bradford may be down on crowds but i'd be very sad if the club became so relient on d!ckheads like that nothing was actually done to solve this ugly problem!!!

The people referred to in the first post where stood just in front of me. One bloke in his early forties and maybe about half a doZen in late teens,

they arrived late and were already drunk, in fact the older bloke didn't come back for second half, to which one of the lads suggested to his mate that his dad had been arrested again.

Maybe it is just me but I just felt sorry for them that that is how they spend family time.

I don't think anyone, other than perhaps the people themselves, would claim these characters are in anyway "hard".

Be interested to see how that lot would fare out in Afghanistan. I'm sure some of the heroes

in the green or maroon berets would be happy to give them the opportunity to go find a load of IEDs for them? To show how brave they really are?

They need identifying to Stewards so they can kick them out and get them banned.

No, they don't. Why, if it is any part of a steward's job to kick such people out, would someone else need to "identify" them? What exactly is it that the stewards are actually being paid for?

How many such persons have the Bulls banned in (say) the last 10 years?

As I have said elsewhere, it seems clear to me that stewards (for whatever reason) have no brief to actively challenge and remove these types of people, or even to do anything to moderate their behaviour. I don't know why this is, but all they ever seem to do is stand there, and maybe occasionally tell people off for standing on a walkway.

I'm not having a go at Bulls stewards in particular btw - going around the grounds it seems clear that physical confrontation with scum, racists and idiots, let alone removing them by force, is the last thing on the mind of stewards at all clubs.

I went to the Crusaders game with family (and children) who don't usually go to games. We sat in the front of the main stand and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The only foul language that was particularly objectionable came from a lad of about 12 - who was sat with an adult who simply ignored his comments (much to the amusement of our kids and annoyance of the adults). While I can see the points being made about the stewards (and perhaps the club's) indifference to this - we all have a role to play if the bad language is in our group (I had an opinionated, voiciferous 18-year old son as part of our group - he's loud and can be objectionable but knows that there are limits to what is acceptable)
