| There were times when each club arranged their own fixtures too. Pre-playoffs, it was decided on percentage of wins from games played.
This is the real reason why Leeds have won more games than anyone else on this side of the hill. Everyone wanted a home fixture against them for the crowd. Same deal for Wigan on t'other side.

I remember the percentage formula - which certainly had some logic to it, though I can't remember the Leeds and Wigan thing.
Some things I do remember about Yorks and Lancs leagues was there was an imbalance between the clubs with more Yorkshire teams than Lancs, so around four Yorkshire teams actually agreed to play in the Lancs league - I remember Batley doing this for quite a while. All the Cumbrian sides were originally in the Lancs league, even Fulham were given entry into the Lancashire cup - and we thought they were a new team!

But then playoffs on top which is potentially another 6/7 games too unless it went to who finishes top wins it!

I hope you have watched the last two Hull games, If so, you should be very excited about the prospect of signing Pryce.

Indeed. Thought he was excellent tonight. I certainly would love to see Pryce back here. Need an old head in middle and he proved tonight he can still do it.

| I'd sign Pryce all day long and even now he's a better player, imo, than anything we have including Gaskell. He could give us 2/3 years good service and help us get back up.Hope Smith has a good, solid NRL scrum half up his sleeve to partner Pryce, should he sign for us.

| I didn't want to start up a new thread so I thought I'd bring it up in here. What has happened to Rhys Lovegrove?! He's been missing since the cup defeat at Dewsbury. The T & A reported back in April that he suffered a 'heavy concussion' but is still yet to even feature in the 19 squad as far as I'm aware.

Still can't pass test to allow him to play again.

| He was seeing a specialist AFAIK as he has had a number of concussions. Think he was out for London for a while with a similar issue. Still part of squad as I've seen him at matchdays.

| So. Retention seems to have taken a turn for the worst today. T&A reporting that Ferguson (Huddersfield) and Gaskell (Huddersfield or Leigh) are likely to be going as things stand. Addy & Clark seem to be confirmed as HKR bound.

God damn him for reporting any news that isn't positive! He should know better in his role as Bradford Bulls Motivational Speaker. Oh no wait, he's a reporter who gets paid to report things regardless of whether it's positive or negative....

Was it news though? No facts, no quotes, completely out of context from the rest of the article.
Here's a piece about your new coach, how he's settling in, his plans to go to the magic weekend...oh and by the way 4 of your best players are ditching you at the end of the season.

What a load of rubbish. I don't think you understand what a reporter is.
Are you saying he shouldn't report it? Here are three player/coach interviews about how they're looking forward to a game, but let's not mention the negatives as we wouldn't want to upset those sensitive Bulls fans.
If the T&A bloke (whoever it is doing the job at the time) doesn't report it, people slate him for being up the club's backside. If he does report it, he gets slated for being negative. No chance of winning. But what he SHOULD be doing, is reporting it regardless of whether it's positive or negative, as IT'S HIS JOB. Would you have preferred a separate article saying that those players are attracting interest or have more or less already signed? No, you'd have probably moaned about that too, preferring to bury your head in the sand and pretend it's not happening.
No facts, no quotes? How often does he mention things like that and they turn out to have nothing to them? Not often. Usually it only gets mentioned in those articles if there is some substance to it. It's not like he's Gledhill that just reports every whisper as fact every time someone feeds him some bull.
I much prefer Ross to the previous people in that role. Does his job instead of just repeating whatever Bulls management tell him to. Regardless of how many over-sensitive fans it upsets.
I'm gonna assume you also hate the BBC for reporting about that missing plane? What a set they are, why are they trying to upset everyone?!?!

| It's usually FA who comes up with the OTT post of the week, but well done that is a great late entry.

I did feel I was channelling FA slightly there. Although I would have had to do the multiple quote system to do it properly.
I used to do some media reporting work, so it really gets on my tits when people start criticising just for reporting news. As you may have gathered!

Errrr, ok?
I have a different opinion to you - it happens from time to time on a public forum. I think you might have over reacted just a tad. Also not sure why you're bringing something like that awful plane crash into this discussion, let's just move on.

| I think it's more likely that these players, or at least their agents, will have spoken to clubs. May is traditionally when contracts are renegotiated.
My only hope is that the of the players mentioned they're willing to give Smith a chance before jumping ship. My worry is that being under Lowes has soured them on Bradford and they've already made plans to leave.

Well the Clark & Addy to KR rumours have been touted in a number of media outlets (those bad bad men). I was certainly told by the same guy who told me we'd signed Mathers that they've already signed, and he's not wrong often.
First I've heard on the Ferguson & Gaskell front, but it's not surprising. Ferguson was doing a belting job for Huddersfield shortly before he left, and their squad is quite thin on the ground. If the rumours about Brough to Hull are true, they are also going to want to replace him. So perfectly plausible that there's something in it.
It was always going to be a problem this season for Bradford. Those who want badly to play in Super League can't wait until October to find out if their current club is promoted, as most clubs have already completed their squads for next season by then. Their best chance of getting a spot is to sign for them early. It's why I'm still surprised that AOB signed.

| I agree with Nothus the context of him reporting it was on a feel good article about Smiths planning, 2 other articles were also put on the website today why not mention it there instead of an article about the head coach. I also agree it needs reporting as fans need to know where the squad could potentially be the following season, I just think Ross could be more selective where he ofsets the potential bad news

It's immediately following discussion with the new coach about potential recruits and squad changes. It makes a lot more sense to put it in there than it does to put it in with Adam Sidlow saying we owe Sheffield one.
