Halley (for being the only one that looked like he could be ar5ed with the tap restart towards the end when there was still just about time to get back into it)

See comment. It's purely for that. I was infuriated that with about 10-15 minutes to go, when it was still in reach (although slightly unrealistic), we got a 20m restart and everyone just slowly trotted towards the field as if no-one could be bothered. Halley got the ball, ran towards the 20, looked for some help, to which none came, so he tapped it and ran himself. Gets my third vote just for being the only one who seemed to still want to put the effort in at that stage.

Did that make up for his un-Mumby-esque non-attempt to tackle McGuire?

Painful. I'm sure most of us are trying very hard to forget we saw that...
Imagine the furore on here had that been Worrincy (or Reardon or Sheriffe) missed that tackle?

Quite. If that had been any of the usual whipping boys there would've been hell to pay.
However the sun seems to shine out of Halley's backside if you listen to the people stood near me on the terraces. Maybe that was to blame for Sheriffe's problems under the high ball

I think you're being very harsh on him there to be honest. McGuire is one of the quickest players with one of the best steps in Super League. It doesn't take much for him to wrong-foot a fullback. There's been many a time Halley has stopped the last mine just fine and I think you're putting too much on Halley rather than giving the credit where it's deserved for what was a superb step by McGuire.
I'm not saying he was excellent or anything (and the vote was purely based on that one incident), but I think some of the criticism of him is a bit unfair.

I thought Halley was more of a rabbit in the headlights when McGuire came through the gap, he got absolutely nowhere near him and was easily stepped. You may think me a bit unfair but I think any half decent fullback would've made it more difficult than that. McGuire made him look pedestrian.
As for the rest of his game he contributed his usual game which is ok but nothing out of the ordinary. Of the threequarters I thought Platt had a better game.

| There is no way that Halley is a fullback. I would have backed Reardon a proper fullback to have stopped McGuire and Reardon is no way a winger and I would have backed Halley to have scored on at least one chance missed by Reardon.
What is McNamara thinking?

| l'estrange - bags of effort, was more effective at 9 than 7. his dummy half runs were in vain though.
menzies - anything quality from bradford came from Menzies. class is definitely permanent
platt - scored a very good try and looked dangerous given half a chance.

Halley's attempt was truly dreadful. Maguire is not the player he was speed wise, I would expect any SL FB to stop him in that situation, Halley didn't get within a foot. He will never be a FB in a million years. Class FBs these days are picked for their attack, Halley offers nothing apart from enthusiasm; if you are as small as him & Webb you need class to excell.
This poll shows Bradford's massive limitations without Orford & Kearney (there's an idea for a thread). You don't have one back who ecites or threatens when they receive the ball. Platt was ok, scored a try that was down to crap Leeds defence, but did little more. Sherriffe has been bigged up this year, by some hwo I respect, but I am yet to see him do much personally. You have some potential world-beaters coming through in the forwards, but I've seen nowt on show in the backs. Which is something of a national issue.
