| I thought Sheriffe made some improvement on Sun in some area's but his defence is still dodgy. The two contributions that spring immediately to mind are the quality finish for his try and not taking a bomb with very little pressure being applied. The latter was a ball that should have been taken without too much problem, is he still struggling for confidence?

| Even if our wingers were setting the world on fire we're still short of cover. With Tupou out we need Halley back.

Is it safe to say we can forget about Tupou? It has gone almost silent on his injury and likely return date other than the odd snippet of him being a long term casualty.

| Halley at stand off, anyone?
Or perhaps as a substitute hooker, we definitely lack pace at the ptb.

I'm working on the basis we've seen the last of Tupwho, for the same reasons. Anyone know otherwise?

I'm not sure his distribution is good enough and since we've not been getting the ball wide quickly enough it's not likely to help in that department. Halley does go looking for work from the wing though so if he can support Menzies (who's always getting his hands free and then looking around confused why nobody's there) he could certainly bring his pace into play there.
Longer term i've considered he might be an option for stand off so it's not a completely out there thought.

But why just keep him and not play him? That does not make any sense, either financially or for the sake of the team.

Unless some sort of agreement can be made or there has been a breach on the agreed contract.. what else can the club do?
I assume Tupou isn't fit for 1st team consideration, whether that is physically or mentally I wouldn't know.

If a player is long term injured, surely some insurance kicks in to pay them? Anyone know?
Can he be excluded from salary cap then?

| IIRC if a player is injured for for than 6 months the standard-form SL contract allows his contract to be terminated? That was used to dispense with TV and TKL the season we signed Harris IIRC - something that left a bad taste at the time.
But if a player is not injured (or has recovered) and the club does not select him, then its down to whats in his contract as to what we have to keep paying him. Must admit the deafening silence from the club seems to speak volumes on this subject?

But if you buy something and it's not fit for purpose, then you can get your money back. So how is this different?

If we turn an in form player (for Wakefield) into a rubbish player (for the Bulls), then I will be calling for Macnamaras head not Halleys.
Its up to Macca to use him where he performed best for Wakefield, if it works don't try and fix it.
I look forward to the game!

Isn't his contract up at the end of the season? considering how much he's loving being at Wakey playing for a coach that gives youth a chance and being disenchanted with the bulls I would have thought that it would take a dramatic turn of events at Bradford to stop him walking away and coming to us, assuming that we make him an offer of course.
There is also the problem for you that another club not too far from us is now interested in him having seen what he can do given a fair run.

You could well be right. We'll have to see how things pan out. McNamara clearly doesn't rate him that highly despite Halley admitting that he was sent on loan because he was out of condition.

| Dave Halley has been a credit to your club and himself both on and off the field during his time with us at Trinity. A great lad who gave his all and his efforts were greatly appreciated by Trinity fans. He scored some great trys, made some fantastic breaks and took the ball up time and time again. He tackled well and was never afraid of doing the hard work out of defense . We played at Hull KR with 13 of the first team squad injured. Dave took a big knock in the first half and played 60 mins on one leg for us, above and beyond what could be expected. Again, a real credit to Bradford. Many thanks to Dave and good luck.

| Won't make a difference on the wing, because he won't get the ball. Might as well just chuck him into FB after Platt's performance (especially the 20 yd pass to no one.

| i know a lot of ppl say halley is too small etc etc for our wings but, i wonder if he has the makings of a decent half back, hes quick zippy on his feet and can actually pass a ball, not saying he would drop straight in the halfs but a little guidence and we could have our very own home grown 6 or 7, we already have an alternate f/b in our named squad in hyde who deserves a shout
