| As far as the game went, I do think it shows just how much experience helps. As much as I rate Joe Lumb, I've said before he's not ready to be our first choice hooker just yet. In the same way Adam O'Brien wasn't when he was behind the likes of Diskin & L'Estrange. Doesn't mean he won't be good in the future, just that he's still quite young. Scott Moore made a big difference and regardless of what we think of him as a person, he is a quality player.
I thought we were massively improved but we were also plainly struggling in certain areas. The frequency that Swinton created overlaps out wide was embarrassing at times and would have punished us a lot more if the likes of Ethan Ryan weren't so good at closing them down (that kid is a bloody superstar in defence as well as attack!). Oscar Thomas proved what was being said about him being a confidence player. When he's playing well, he carves up a defence. It worries me though that he isn't consistent enough. If he played like that every week, you wouldn't be so bothered about him being first choice, but we all know he doesn't. Needs to find some consistency before he convinces me, but I am happy to admit he was very good yesterday.

This made me chuckle this morning

| I would sort of hope that whilst all the match commissioner citing is going on, someone looks at the refs performance, especially in light of the historical pattern he is building up. Should be an area highlighted in his next appraisal for some remedial work/mentoring, that sort of thing, which would happen in most other lines of work....

| The addition of Lee Smith into the backs this week (centre probably) should improve the defence on one side a bit,
Presuming Thomas has earned a stay of execution at Full back, I would still prefer to see Campbell play there..

| Quote ="HamsterChops"Yes he was. Andy Bracek was the first to go following the brawl, closely followed by Roche. Roche was definitely in there throwing a few, but so were quite a few others. He was as good a choice as any to go for 10 minutes though as the ref needed to send one from each side to calm it down.
I didn't hear too much bad and didn't see any scuffling, but I do have to say I was a little disgusted at one chant especially. The "rabble" part of our fans (the usual suspects) can be funny at times, but they can also be offensive. The crap they were giving the poor ball boy was out of order. The kid didn't do anything, he was just a little overweight, and they took it upon themselves to repeatedly mock him for that. I felt really sorry for the lad and quite embarrassed that fans of our club could be like that.
It's one thing giving players or public faces of the club some stick over being a bit weighty (Jake Emmitt, Derek Beaumont etc.), but giving it to a kid on the sidelines volunteering as a ball boy was a disgrace.
Unfortunately a lot of the people in that group are more bothered about showing off in front of their friends than they are about being decent human beings.'"
I was sat in the stands but if that was the case then it is a disgrace. There is an sour element creeping in to some of our supporters (swearing in chants etc) Either the culprits (which i'm sure we all know who they are) grow up, or get them kicked out. It's not just some young lads trying to show off in front of their mates, there's a few middle aged women who are causing as much bother with the chanting and mouthing off. It's the same idiots unfortunately. Smell a pint and behave like idiots. Just can;'t handle it but go around like Johnny 10 men. I'd like to think the club would be pro-active with this but don't think they will do anything. Bit like the words of banning the idiot who threw beer over Caro at the Fev game last year. Nothing happened.

| Great to get the first win even though it was twitch bum time occasionally. The experienced lads will have made a big difference.
Shame Moore probably won't be around for the whole season, shame.

There has always been this element unfortunately and every club has them and certainly not just us.
At one time they would have been, 'shut up', by fellow fans but few would dare to intervene these days or it may be more than just a mouthful you'd get back.....and, a to make it worse, you'd probably be the one ejected by the stewards for 'causing the bother'.

| I have successfully told individuals to calm it down in the past without being filled in. It's worked 100% of the time. Not sure how you do that with a larger group. Refer it to the stewards I reckon.

| The stewards are generally useless to be fair. They don't want to get involved.
The only offensive chant I heard yesterday was the -12, who gives a f**k.
Unless I'm deaf. Which is possible.

| That one about Posh and Beckham and Leon Pryce is pretty naff. Recycled from last year. Come on people you can do better than that!
Could be much worse though. At least we don't sing about getting your father's gun, town full of ***** etc.

| Those that were chanting at ball boy should be ashamed of themselves! Bang out of order. Not clever and certainly not hard! How would you feel/react if that was your kid being bullied by a group of adults! That is not what rugby and banter is about.

| To be fair the lads that get off on chanting are early 20s kids themselves.
They certainly aren't capable of filling anyone in..
I personally don't find it offensive.
If you can't vent a bit and eff and blind at an RL game where can you?

| Having now watched the match, it does show the 1st half drop goal goes over at normal and slow speed, but the bonus was we scored a converted try which probably wouldn't have happened if it was given.
The Bulls still look out of condition and flagged in the 2nd half hence the overall poor tempo of their game.
Leon needs to look at some videos of Beaver on how to pace yourself, though Beaver was and probably is still is a lot fitter than Leon will ever be!
Its going to be a long season of improvement and Team changes but we will still need that rub of the green (probably a whole meadowful) just keep out of relegation when the deficit is clawed back

I doubt those idiots could, you could hear them chanting you F B on the video but you don't know who to, though I did think perhaps Gledhill had walked past!

| Managed to watch the game on the tube of you in the early hours this morning!! From it I took:
Scott Moore is still a class player. Defence was spot on and he controlled the ruck well and his dummy half runs were good too.
Thomas was brilliant and set the tone with his break in the first few mins of the game.
Oakes and Ryan have an awesome partnership developing which needs to continue. Ryan is unbelievable in attack but his defensive options are spot on too!
Pryce got a little more involved but still needs to control the game more alongside Keyes.
Bentley. Wow. His work ethic is unreal. Puts himself about in defence and his attack is good. Good to see him involved in a sweeping move where he gets the ball runs left but passes right to Thomas who goes behind him. It set up Ryan's first try anyway!
Oledzki has some engine! Important we keep him I think.
Finally it was once again great to see the lads get stuck in when Swinton wanted to fight. Roche was especially protecting the young lads which was nice to see.
All in all a good result. Still need to work on fitness (always going to be an issue with having no pre-season) and line speed needs sorting (will come with fitness). Roll on Toulouse.

What rubbish. "Kids in their early twenties, which planet are you on. I was married at 21 with a mortgage, by then they ought to be showing some maturity. Call me old fashioned because I am an old git, but Effing and blinding where there are children and women around you is NOT acceptable in my book. Every club has its share of idiots and we clearly have ours. Don't try to condone them

Agree with all of that. I thought Leon got more involved Sunday. He won't be taking the line on and making breaks, but he certainly talked a lot on the field (don't under estimate the importance of having this in a team) and his passing was spot on. Thought Keyes was very good too. Oakes just keeps getting better and better. I think it was Ethan's second try where he picked up a poor pass from his ankles brilliantly.
