Quote ="bobsmyuncle"Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974.
It has always been my understanding that paying for anything on a credit card makes the credit card company as liable as the supplier in the case of non performance.
There are some exceptions of course but I can not see any problem with buying my own season ticket (over £100 minimum) on my own credit card (the wife pays for her own on her own credit card - as opposed to an additional user on mine)
Should the club go tits up I would expect the credit card company to shell out.
If some legal member has further info on this I would be pleased to hear from them.
My own take on this is embodied here

I've bought on credit card for the last few years for exactly this reason. I believe visa issued debit cards also have the same protection.

| Quote ="bullinenemyland"I'd happily take on board such a comment had it not been from a supporter of a club that systemically shafted opposition fans by increasing gate prices at will.
I'd also take note from someone not associated with a club that itself had issues paying the tax man (among others) in their very recent history.
Those in glass houses and all that poop
'"
Can you elaborate on the "systematically shafted opposition fans" comment? It's a genuine question, as most away fans join the Fax faithful in the South Stand for £17. It's only when Leigh/Bradford/Featherstone come into town that the North stand has been used. Are you saying that it was more than £17 in the North Stand at the Shay. Bad form if so, and I admit something I was unaware of.
In terms of the tax man, I've not heard anything about that from a Fax perspective regarding unpaid bills? It's true we were in dispute with the Council over rent payments, but these issues seem to be resolved now.

| Quote ="HamsterChops"The £2 hike for gameday is fairly common. There are a number of clubs have done the same for years (Huddersfield is the first one I remember doing it). It's all to try and get people buying in advance really.
All your other points though, I don't think any sane person would argue with. I get the club is a business and needs to be run as such, but it does often feel like the fans that are still sticking with it are being constantly asked to put more and more money in to make up for those that are no longer on board.'"
Tbh, I don't disagree with the £2 hike in principle. What got my goat was that there was a £2 admin charge per ticket for booking tickets online, which meant the only way to get the "normal" price was to visit the Bulls ticket office in person. Not exactly ideal for an away supporter - I was happy to buy in advance, but there was no advantage!

So the club has lost the income from one new ST purchase. Great marketing strategy from the club then...

I would check if that is the case should anyone go down that route - I thought it was for credit transactions only
Also I heard somewhere that credit card payments via paypal are also excluded.

For years Halifax up'd the prices on tickets for Bulls games, starting at Thrum Hall around the time "BullMania" all kicked off. Think the first time I remember it was 1996 when there was the televised sky game where Bulls staged a second half comeback to win. It continued for years afterwards, including at The Shay. I've refused to go to Fax ever since just on principle, but have considered returning in past year of two.
With regards to Tax bills, again I remember one for definite years ago and had mistakenly thought I'd read about one recently. However I was wrong and it was in fact your rent payments.

I believe that was done and I refused to go to that match on principle. It is though now common practice in the football world to grade your games and charge accordingly.

Well, nowt like holding a grudge then!! Tbh, I'm not sure that this can have happened at Thrum Hall - there was no differentiation between any of the turnstiles for home and away supporters. It could potentially have happened at the Shay, given the "informal" segregation that's occurred there.

I think that's correct actually.
It definitely did happen at the Shay, or at least, it was reported to be so in the press. It does pig you off a bit but, if I'm honest, I wouldn't really blame clubs for making the best each match - it's pretty expensive to keep a club alive these days.

Heh, I've just snorted coffee all over my keyboard after reading a Fax fan complaining about a Bulls fan 'holding a grudge'!

Our prices are the same for all visitors. That is fair and supporters have a choice, it riles me when some clubs have different prices for different games depending on the opposition.
Which is why I refused to pay the Fev 'away stand tax' at the final match.

| Had a chat with our local radio commentator on Saturday - I bumped into him at the 4 Nations and he reckons we're in serious trouble with unpaid suppliers. Anyone else heard about this? Might affect my own decision.

I don't doubt your wrong but how big can a debt be to suppliers. W
Bradford can't buy that much!!! Not like will purchase stuff in to the millions or tens of thousands. Surly the biggest bill is HMRC.
I honestly think someone need to put a big cash injection in or a take over. I have purchased my season ticket on a visa just in case.

| Won't be buying a Giants ticket - in any case, they seem to have 'peaked' now and are going downhill quickly. Well, as quickly as momentum allows and they never got high enough to build up a proper head of steam in the first place..

| Alas it's a downgrade to a flexi membership for me this year. New job means I'll probably be working weekends and so I won't get the value out of a full season ticket. I'm hoping to get to more than 3 games though (and away games when I get a chance) so the club will still get more than the £58 out of me.
