Elliot turning down the move to Salford makes me think the complete opposite. If he wanted out so badly because of some behind the scenes problems we don't know about, he would have accepted any move offered to him. Especially since we can assume Salford were going to pay him better than we pay him.

Him and franny met but couldn't reach a 'reconciliation' I think that's fair enough.... Elliot wants to play for a top 4 club and we are currently not top 4. It doesn't mean it was a heated argument between then. Perhaps just a 'I need a change of scene, I want to test myself at the top now.

For all the Elliot bashing, rightly and wrongly IMO, maybe Elliot turning down Salford is just him sticking to what he said he wanted, a chance at a top 4 club.... surely we should give him credit for that

If he gets a move to Catalans the onus will be on him to become a top player, there'll be no room for excuses then. If he does it then good luck to him. I just hope we get a few quid.

It was posted a couple of posts after it was announced that we had a bid along with the comment 'Top 4 my Harris'. It's quite obvious who he was talking about. A statement can be defamatory without explicitly mentioning the point they're putting across.

If You ask me the contract we gave to Elliot whitehead of £2k a week was more than he is worth.

I cant see him getting the money of what the likes of Wilkin, JJB, Hock, Ellis, Soiliola, Delaney are on. Simply because when you put him next to them he is 3rd division.

All this driving about in his White BMW and being the big I am.. seems to have got to his head. He needs to take a step back and think about what he has done. Sack the agent and get his head down n learn how to tackle. Maybe in 5 years IF he gets his head down he might turn out to be a decent player.

He needs to grow up and show a bit of Maturity.

Personally I've nothing against Salford. If Whitehead had been approached by someone from another club he wouldn't be the first or the last. The Bulls have been on both sides of that situation plenty of times.

I hope Salford do manage to actually show some substance behind all the press talk and sign some decent players, like most fans of other clubs I hope it's not at our expense.

We're budgeted for Whitehead's salary. I say let him sit home until his contract runs out. You might say he's getting money for nothing, I say he's reaping what he sows as that would see him out of the game for the next 3 years . No training within a rugby environment, no advice from specialist fitness and nutrition experts. Pretty much the shafting of his career in terms of getting near a top 4 club. Probably for getting a spot with a SL team.

The club have been spineless in the past regarding players who thought themselves too good for Bradford. Which is probably what he and his agent hoped would happen this time and the club would just hand him a release.

Time for the board to play hardball.

Whilst it is important we consider a reasonable offer for EW the new owners must send a clear message to any player at the club that they expect a contract to be honoured. If a player wishes to break that contract then the deal has to suit us as well as the player.

Put it this way you won't be getting anywhere near the £125000 fee agreed with Salford from the frogs, if I was khan I'd make the decision for him and take what's best for Bradford.

You may not have noticed but slavery was abolished in this country a century or two back. We CAN'T make the decision for him. The player has to agree personal terms with any club he goes to. Don't know why you're worried as according to you on the Salford forum last night he'd definitely 100% agreed to sign

We can accept the fee but its then up to the buying club in this case Salford, to agree conditions with the player.

Same with football you can sell a player to any tom, dick or harry, but if the player does not want to go to one of those clubs your back to square one, well now we have player whos agent though thought there would be an abundance of clubs just waiting to snap him up however this does not seem to be the case.

Dont think EW refusing to train or play for us has done him the world of good either, if i had just handed in a transfer request i would still want to play and would give it my all to prove how valuable i am to a team, if he did that he may have had some suitors.

AFAIK Whitehead hasn't refused to play or train. It was clubs decision to stand him down.

As I broke on here hours before it became public last night he isn't going anywhere! He's had a rethink, and Catalan won't meet the asking price - Talks with Franny tomorrow aimed at a face saver for all parties.

we have the power to make him see out his contract in reserves, But that's no use to us as we end up paying his wage for remainder on his contract for nothing. We don't have the power to force him to move to a club who agree a transfer fee. Deal has to be agreeable to both whitehead and the club.
