Agreed - most people love to see a giant of a man come onto the pitch and send a few bodies flying. And I suspect it gets the rest of the team buzzing too.

Impact props are good but the signing of one is a long way from a priority.
1. Scrum Half
2. Stand off
3.
4. Winger
5. Maybe put an impact prop here
We would have to spend a lot of money on a type of player that would be nice but doesn't top the priorities IMO
Maybe if we fatten Koppy up to about 20 stone that could be his role moving forward
I just shudder when I see the name Moi Moi mentioned that's all. Too much of a luxury

It certainly worked for Saints when they brought Faasavalu and Puletua on against us as impact players a few weeks back.
We haven't had any impact on the bench for ages and it's a problem. We need either Scruton or Burgess on the bench with a damaging, break the line backrower IMO.

| Quote ="Marky P Hushman"Probably is the strongest pack in the league, certainley better than Leeds.
Lets compare probable starting packs for start of SL
Burgess Vs Leuluai - Burgess by 10 mile
Newton Vs Buderus - nothing in it really, Newton is as good as anybody, Buderus might not even be fit
Lynch Vs Peacock - Peacock just
Menzies Vs Buchanan - Menzies by 10 mile
Morrison Vs Lauitiiti - Morrison by 10 mile
Langley Vs Sinfield - Sinfield by a bit
Its our 5/8 and 3/4 that worry me.
Burrow couldnt lace Deacons boots if he tried, he's got one game, thats run. Mcguire I like, I think its harsh to say he's just a support player, hes much more than that, Jeffries is a poor one in my mind.
Leeds have the edge in the back s though by a 10 mile.
Platt Vs Webb - Webb by 10 mile
Sheriffe Vs Donald - Donald by 10 Mile
Sykes Vs Senior - Senior by 10 mile
Nero vs Smith - Smith is ordinary, and definatley not a centre
Tadulala Vs Hall - Tadulala by 10 mile'"
"Newton Vs Buderus - nothing in it really, Newton is as good as anybody" You still sure about that
"Lynch Vs Peacock - Peacock just" You sure about that one too?
"Langley Vs Sinfield - Sinfield by a bit" Classic!
" Nero vs Smith - Smith is ordinary, and definatley not a centre" You've proved you know more that Bluey haven't you!
" Morrison Vs Lauitiiti - Morrison by 10 mile" Lauititi on fire for the Champions at the weekend...McBanana, the coach of the team currently 12th in SL confirms Morrison is been released at the end of the season. Yep you got another one spot on!

| Feka is probably the best impact prop in the league, but he's not exactly fit and doesn't last that long on the pitch.
8.26 metres per carry.
Compare that with :
Scruton : 7.36
Burgess : 7.10
Graham : 7.26
Peacock : 7.21
Kopzcak : 6.60
Lynch : 6.75
Crabtree : 8.62
Morley : 8.25
His value as an impact Prop certainly doesn't look that good when he has to be used in 10/15 minute spells.
Just as a random fact, Halleys metre per carry rate is 9.1.

The last one, okay disregard that .
Tbf to Morrison he has been injured for the majority of the season.
Sinfield plays LF like a SO, but yes he has more value than Langers.
Nero is a better out and out centre than Smith, Smith is a better FB.
Peacock only just overshadows Lynch.
Buderus is obviously better than Newton but as would be expected, especially for his wage packet.

Nobody was "going to replace Big Joe", ffs, that calibre of player is irreplaceable, you just have to do something else.
I was wondering if anyone this decade still said the cringeworthy "wake up, smell the coffee" embarrassment, but then again it's probably the latest trendy phrase you've learned in Leeds, is it?

Yeah, and we have been under-performing for most of the season. Lynch, Menzies and Burgess would walk into your team and Scruton and Morro would probably get a good run of games aswell.

Yes it's a trendy phrase used in Leeds as well as "Changed your Tune"
I came on the Bradford thread when it was posted the predictions that Bradford was gonna finish no lower than 4th (when queried this I was informed at the time you never finished below this since start of SL)
It was also predicted the giants would finish 10th, 11th or 12th, again I queried this and predicted top 6 for us, again i was laughed off here.
I commented that I felt you had not replaced Big Joe and would struggle with the signings you have made this season, someone advised you had signed Scruton to replace Big Joe.
I said Scruton would struggle to get into the Giants starting line up as would be 3rd or 4th best prop at the Giants (This was laughed off and claimed to be post of the year)
Looking again we have Eorl Crabtree (England call up), Darrell Griffin and Keith Mason along with Paul Jackson pushing for the prop positions.
These 4 have bossed possibly every pack we have played against this season with the exception of Leeds at our place (made up for it at their place!!!) and certainly bossed Bradford at your gaff!!!
So maybe it could prove to be post of the year cos as it stands at the moment I wouldn't swap any of them for Scruton at this moment in time.
Another trendy saying in Leeds is "Hindsight is a wonderful thing!!!!" oh and another I forgot is "The league never lies"

Huddersfield have exceeded expectations this year and deserve congratulations.

All very good, if you had, but in fact you did no such thing so stop fibbing, you card.
Your view on Shudds was :
Quote Think you might be suprised by Huddersfield this season 10th-11th seems a little low to me.'"
Hardly a ringing prediction of Top 6, was it, that? "10th-11th seems [ia little [/ilow"?
You then dithered:
Quote you may be higher than us'"
Yeah, you were really sure that Hudds would be top 6 and above Bradford, weren't you mate?!
You continued:
Quote . . . but to go back to my prev post think 10-11th is a lilltle harsh on us, if we finish in top 8 we done well and top 6 be a great season for us. . . but we will know a little more after 4-5 rounds '"
So in fact, you weren't expecting anything better than a top 8 finish, and you were expecting Bradford to be above you ! Sorry to point bthis out, but you're the one trying to big up your pre-season claims.
Even a couple of games in your prediction was
Quote Huddersfield will be higher than 10th '"
Quote ="FLYINGPROP"I commented that I felt you had not replaced Big Joe and would struggle with the signings you have made this season, someone advised you had signed Scruton to replace Big Joe.'"
The only person who claimed Scruton was a replacement for Big Joe was, in a moment when his melancholic demons overcame him, mystic eddie who is normally our resident Jonah
Quote ="FLYINGPROP"I said Scruton would struggle to get into the Giants starting line up as would be 3rd or 4th best prop at the Giants (This was laughed off and claimed to be post of the year). Mate i'm not writing this post to knock your team, and Mason in particular has always been a decent enough player, but if you think he, Griffin and Jackson are the best in the league then that is your problem. Crabtree is having a far better spell than he ever has before and I hope he maintains the standard but we (especially you) have all seen him being no great shakes for years so don't paint him as the Messiah.
Whether your coach would or would not rate Scruton ahead of those named is a pointless and sterile argument. What you could say was most SL coaches given the chance would sign Scruton.
TBF I would not have knocked you for predicting Shudds would have a good season, but then the fans of each club, on the whole, always predict their club is gonna be good that year, that's what fans do, it would have been weird had you said anything else, and of course some fans each year will be right. Even if they have had 30 years of being previously wrong!
The truth is there weren't many Shudds-knockers on here. One was RAB resident expert
Quote ="redeverready, who" Huddersfield 9th at best. Weak squad and unproven coach.'"
but even he didn't "laugh you off". On the contrary, he was only predicting a table position 3 places or so worse than YOu were predicting so pipe down.
Oh, and I add my congrats to Shudds for a decent season so far, and to big Eorl, who has clearly worked extra hard on his game.
