| Indeed. I liked Donaghue v Stevenson better, cos the women went all peculiar when the circumstances were described in detail...
But Mercantile Law is frighteningly exciting compared with Company Law - trust me!

I know I did company law module as well.
And employment law.
Nothing to do with my degree in economics but I got a separate ILEX qualification if I did the 3 modules. I got the qualification but really wasn't worth it!!!!!

| Quote ="Adeybull"The very first thing I ever learnt, on day one, when studying mercantile law as part of the first year for my qualification, was that offer+acceptance+consideration=contract*
Then we moved onto snails in bottles and smelly smokeballs and 1930's car parks...
It'll be engraved on my mind to the very end of time, I fear.

I have learnt that much this year that I think it has all merged into one! Trying to be chartered in a year on top of working has just about frazzled my mind! I always remember and try to use the Dunlop tyre co v selfridges which has consideration, privity of contract and agency so I should know better!!

| Was the time limit included in the offer. Didn't it mention 5pm on 06/04. Srely extending the daedline is tantamount to making a new offer. Only arguing hypothetically by the way.

| But they have made no offer. At the moment they have a lot of promises to make individual gifts, if enough people promise to make these gifts. Which, seemingly, not enough had as at Sat. a.m..

| Any idea how long the taxman will give the club to collect the pledges? i'd imagine its going to take at least a couple of weeks to get maybe 90 % of them. Then whats the plan when people dont pay up? regardless of offers to treat etc. no club is going to take their own fans to court for £100

| The payroll and earlier PAYE are either due now or later this coming week.
The MArch PAYE is due the following week.
The VAT (a lot) etc is due end of the month.

| What's the scope for extensions on the individual payment dates Adey? Don't you normally get 28 days to make the payment?

| Er...no.
This is the leisure industry, mate. HMRC has taken too may hits, most recently Glasgow Rangers which may have been the final straw for them.
If you are a few nanoseconds overdue now, they come in very very heavy.

| The former sports minister who did nothing to help the club while he was a sports minister. Sounds like he's just using this to get himself some media coverage!

| If the club is losing £100k a month there really is little hope going forward without any big new investment - whether the pledge money is raised or not.

| An MP accusing the BOD of being economival with the truth. There is a phrase to describe it but can't remember it. Somthing to do with 'pot', 'kettle' and 'black'. I am most surprised that he even knew who Bradford Bulls were. Gerry really is a most appropriate name.

| Another potential pr cock up! If we are losing £100k per month the future looks very grim indeed - unless a new investor comes along and is happy to personally fund that level of loss, it's ways of generating extra revenue that's key to long term survival - something I don't see with this BOD, or of course cutting costs which we've seen for 3 or 4 years now and we're still in the mess we are.

| If, as is claimed, the bulls are debt free bar this short-term cash flow issue then interest on debts can't be to blame for losing 100k a month. So where is all the money going? Is there going to have to be a major staff and squad cull anyway? How much is the rent that is being paid to the RFL? What is the great master plan to prevent the club being in the same situation in 12 months time? There is an awful lot of questions that still need to be answered sharpish i reckon.

Caisley/RBS/RFL's fault - that's all anyone needs to know.

The article doesn't specify whether that is losing £100K a month now or projected. Could read it as that being the outgoings at the moment with debt repayments included.
Quote ="Theboyem"How much is the rent that is being paid to the RFL?'"
Is the question that needs answering, was what worried me at the time of the lease sell off - long term how can a change in rent from "peppercorn" to "market" be considered a good thing. Suspect it was desperation for quick cash and not long term security at all.

| I'm sorry but what's the soure on this?
We already know that Caisley is trying regain control of the club and got a nice article in the T&A about doing that when the pledge was making good ground. I view this as another attempt to derail the pledge and stop people fulfilling what they've told the bulls.
If the bulls were really losing £100,000 a month how is the debt so low and my view is we'd already be out of business.
Also apart from saying the bulls need to come clean what on earth has Mr Sutcliffe done, absolutely Nothing....as he been in touch with the club yet, as of a week ago he hadn't. He's seen an opportunity to get his name in the paper with some free PR and taken it.
Sorry guys but there's a battle going on for the hearts and minds of supporters and this probably isnt going to be the last revelation that comes from the T&A, I just wish they'd be a bit more objective.
