Chalmers and Lowe addressed the players and staff last night and confirmed their intentions to go part time with no investment and cutbacks forthcoming. Stu Duffy has sent out texts this morning saying he's now in charge with Gary Tasker and will be meeting players individually to decide whether the new club will keep them or what they're worth. No guarantee they will keep Rohan. One of the staff asked if they would get paid this month but the reply game no because of the current HMRC dispute. HMRC are demanding a large security deposit against future tax liabilities, as is their right (powers given to them in 2015) when a person in control has a track record of defaulting on tax payments and has had several business failures such as both Andrew Chalmers and Graham Lowe.
Chalmers has asked the RFL to lend him the £400,000 against the personal guarantee of his property in New Zealand. One final point is Chalmers and Lowe will be based in New Zealand with a UK based management team of Gary Tasker and Stuart Duffy.
Nothing can move forward until the RFL lend the new club money to pay HMRC the six months up front.

I heard the rumour about part time at the weekend. If that is true, I can't see that ever changing. I think once a team goes part time, it's very difficult to then get the money and the players required to jump back to full time (as Sheffield recently found out).

If true (and I say if because I have no concrete evidence to say it is), it's just another part of the downward slide I'm afraid, even if part time is the only way that the club will survive.

Part time won't work at Odsal with those overheads.

If this is confirmed then it's just putting off the inevitable.

I thought Tasker had moved to Ireland and said he wouldn't get involved again. He seems to have appeared out of nowhere.
I don't trust this poster as he has gone from a few posts where he was being abused by players for giving information to posting very often.

I stopped short of saying that, but I must admit it was going through my head.

As always I'll wait to see it confirmed officially before jumping off any cliffs.

why would they say Hi, we have just taken over the club we aren't going to invest in it we haven't got any money how do you guys like that?
Oh and we don't have any money to pay HMRC either we are going to borrow that of the RFL that have just signed the franchise over to us.

Again I may be totally wrong, but there is no incentive to starting a business doomed to fail before it even starts?
And why would they RFL have picked a bid that resigns it self to the fact it will not be on the start line for the first game.

Also another little point how would a former academy players dad be privy to this information?

Gary Tasker is running the show at Odsal with Stu Duffy. Both being paid by the RFL and RL Cares. Tasker had a meeting with Nigel Wood weeks ago and is desperate to get back involved with the sport. If the RFL do not pay the HMRC liabilities then that's it. Close the doors.

Then lets hope the RFL have nothing and lets close the damn doors finally.

Re - Part Time as a neutral observer - I remember the Sheffield Chairman when we played them saying - the problem they had with being full time was that they could not attract players at this level as the lions share want to be part time as they have work / business commitments.

The sad reality is (as Fax have found out) you have to sometimes cut your cloth accordingly.....

again why wouldn't the RFL just go to one of the next bidders?

IF and massively if this is true shows how bent and corrupt the RFL have been wanting these in charge. DOnt care if it seems like sour grapes Lamb, Thorne and Lawn saying the same this about the RFL is nonsense. I'm really on the edge of forgetting all about it if this latest is true

None of this adds up.

Why would Chalmers/Lowe want to be bothered running a part time rugby club? There’s no money to be made at all. The Odsal costs crippled a fully professional club so how would they afford them as part time? Income would be much reduced in a part time set up. Cuts may be made but it will never break even.

Why would Chalmers put his house up as security? What’s in it for him at the end of the day? Am I missing something, because it looks like he gets to put his property at risk for no return. Why would he do that? He’s no historical connection with the club. There must be something in it for him.

Why would the RFL bother putting in another lame duck administration? If this one goes pop (or fails to start) then they will look like fools as these people are effectively chosen by them.

I really don't think our resident rumour monger has any/all the information.

I really hope you're wrong, because I've always thought my monthly subscription to RL Cares went to players who have had life-changing injuries, or similar stuff, not paying the salaries of people running a rugby club. If there's any truth in that, I'll rethink my subscription.

Sorry but don't get it.

Why would Charlmers and Lowe invest in a troubled club at the other side of the world with no apparent financial backing? Take it part time and the crowd numbers will drop dramatically. What's in it for them? Will they be getting the lease to develop Odsal? If not, what is the point? And if they are buying the lease then how can they ask the RFL for a loan? None of this adds up?
