| I didn’t think that was coming…… yet.
Obviously the right time for a change, will be interesting to see the quality of applicant that we get.

| As others have said, we owe him our gratitude for coming in and steadying the ship when we were an utter shambles. But it seemed like - as with all coaches and managers - his tenure had run its course.
Massive decision coming up now and the level of the appointment will tell us plenty about the ambition of the club.
I think a younger, hungry coach who can grow with the club might be good after having an elder statesmen type for a few years.
I'd like to see Nigel Wood come out now and tell us what his plans are for the club. Are we going to be content to bumble along in the middle of the Championship? Or are we seriously looking to get back into SL? Because where we are now is a million miles off. As always it will come to down to money/investment. The millstone of Odsal is all part of that mix.
I doubt Wood will say anything but the appointment will speak volumes
What we don't want is a new coach coming in with all the platitudes and waffle about how we "deserve to be in SL", "a sleeping giant" " aiming for Super League" - but then nothing much changes apart from the name of the coach's door

| I don't see the club moving out of the Championship whilst Leigh and Fev are throwing big sums at it. We are miles away from what they can spend and we cannot keep hold of good young players to build a side longer term.
Not sure where that leaves our ambitions to be honest. Even with the return of licensing there are clubs better placed than us.

| Just changing from 'We deserve Super League' to 'coming top of the Ch is priority' would be refreshing for me.

To be fair we could have beaten both sides this season. Fev were there for the taking last night and we were close to beating Leigh (albeit in the Cup). At the moment neither side are playing as well as they can. Difference is, both of them could easily go up a gear.
What we need is a coach who will play to our strengths. And that’s throwing the ball around a bit. When we do that, we look great! My concern is the forward pack. We hardly win a ruck and always seem to get slow PTB.
I’d honestly settle for a coach to come in and just say, the playoffs are the bare minimum, then we’ll see what we can do then. Recruit well in the off-season, and hopefully improve our position. Anything can happen in playoff rugby. We need to build a side that’s consistent over the year, and can give the top two a close run. We aren’t far off that. Just need so bloody forwards.

The problem is that next season there'll still be whichever of Leigh and Fev don't go up, plus the team that comes down. And that will be the same every year (unless SL expands to 14 clubs)
To be honest, we can't even match York and Halifax for spending.
It's the old problem - lack of investment. That's why I'd like Wood to come out now and tell us his intentions for the club. At least we'd know where we stand, rather than this vague "building towards Super League" when, in reality, we aren't really.

| After the interview JK gave last night, the writing was on the wall I'm afraid.
Yes, it was a much better performance than against Fax and Barrow, but to say you were happy with it, when the game was there for the taking shows how far apart coach and fans are.
My take on last was there was no lack of effort, but team selection was wrong. Too many injured players were risked (again) resulting in more lengthy absences. Why are we playing people who are injured or out of position when we have some decent kids in the reserves who deserve a chance. We have three out at Cornwall, yet we play the same old line up playing on half a tank and one leg!!!!
Time for a change well over due and hopefully someone can now come in, assess the squad and cut out the dead wood. We need a young hungry team ready to prove their worth.

I wondered how long it would be before he got suggested
I don't know if the club are inviting applications - it would be interesting to see if he throws his hat into the ring if we do. It didn't exactly end well for him when he had his second playing spell with us did it?
I think Chev Walker is an interesting possibility. Seems to be well-regarded at the Rhinos and could find himself edged out if Rohan Smith wants to have his own people as assistants.

I don’t quite get it that way. Since Wood took over I get the feeling the off field stuff has slowly improved year on year. The new commercial guy seems to building links with local businesses, there are small but incremental improvements to the stadium. But it is all incremental- I don’t think we’ll ever be in a position to say to a coach that the playing budget has gone up by 50% But more likely 5%, that sort of thing.
And we still portray ourselves to the RL world as a big club.
We run a first team, reserves, scholars, womens team, wheelchair team, disability team. We still have a senior dance troop and the junior dancers. In short , we still do all the things we used to in SL. How many other clubs still do all that? Do we need to have a conversation about priorities?

Fair enough. Maybe its about communicating better with the fans then?
Because I wasn't really aware of some of that (my excuse could be that I don't live in Bradford anymore)

We’re not a big club now and no-one sees us that way.
We have the potential to be a big club again but I genuinely fail to see how that happens without a sizeable, sustained investment.

| Got to feel sorry for Kear although it's the right decision. Feel sorry because I felt he was assembling a good squad which was ripped apart in the last financial meltdown, Minicello,Ryan,Storton, Milne's and Keyes gone to Hull K R . All except Keyes playing regular SL.

| Surprised no one has mentioned John Duffy yet.
Aggressive (maybe a little grubby!) and expansive rugby. Both things we desperately need.

Should Budge (good evening, hope you are well) be proven correct you will have the measure of Wood and his “open-ness”.

| Finnigan has just been ousted (mutual consent blah blah) with a similar record to Kear this year. Unless I'm missing something, I'm not sure signing him would be logical.

| 12 months too late for me but good luck to him. I thought we underperformed in League 1 with the squad and have never looked like progressing in the Championship. I don't see us any further forward than the day he arrived, apart from the fanbase is even more demoralised at the standard of rugby.
If there's no investment then why is Wood here? Similarly if we can't compete with Leigh and Fev budget wise, then we must look to create our own excitement with an attacking, offloading dynamic game. 5k to watch that dross on Good Friday tells you we're still the only club in the championship capable of generating its own momentum if there's something to get behind. There is no economic model for boring rugby at Odsal.

| Does anyone think we'll end up with Mark Dunning?
I don't really know anything about the guy, and I don't know if he'd even want the job permanently. But it certainly ticks the 'cheap' box.
If we win the next couple is the call for Dunning going to become irresistible?
