| Quote Bully_Boxer="Bully_Boxer"The Shay? Local stadium for 50% of the fans and good bus links to Huddersfield!

In all seriousness though is Dewsbury actually the best option? Obviously the Stadium does not currently meet SL standard nor is it big enough. Is the pitch good enough for SL.. never been in the summer months! Is the adequate parking space for +8K fans in the surrounding area?
If we can solve some of the above problems and it still be more cost effective than VP then I'd much prefer to be watching the Bulls there! Plus I'd rather help line the pockets of a RL club than any other person or organisation.'"
There is hardly any parking at Dewsbury, at the pitch is horrible. It gets boggy, so they throw sand all over it.

| I think that IF the bulldozers move in in 2011 it'll depend on howmuch it costs I doubt that Flamingo Land will want to drop their rent considerably from what they charge City so it could see us leaving Bradford for a year. Valley Parade's pitch is too small and my dad had his tyres slashed there but apart from that at the right price it would be ok.

Isn't that just a myth? I am sure that it measures pretty much the same as most other pitches doesn't it?

| If we dont redevelop Odsal or another site then we are knacked as a club. and it will be the demise of SL in bradford within 3/5 years
If we do then we need to temporarily play elsewhere during the development period. Almost cetainly two seasons, but maybe just one depending on timings and the phases and scope of development.
Our options are limited for alternative venues without going into the Leeds boundary. VP, Dewsbury, Keighley and Halifax are the only remaining potential stadia within an acceptable distance.
Whilst the latter 3 do not meet SL criteria the Bulls will majority finance work neccessary at Dewsbury as part of the rental/support deal in conjunction with the Odsal developers.
Unlike VP, Dewsbury will allow and facillitate the Bulls sponsors in most respects.
VP have remained intransigent in thier dealings for future potential use by the Bulls in that, as the same as our last usuage, it would cost more to be there than income they allowed us to derive. It was a huge loss for us.

correct,
VP dimensions are 103 x 64m
[url=http://www.bradfordcityfc.co.uk/page/CoralWindowsStadium/0,,10266,00.htmlbradfordcityfc.co.uk[/url
And taken from the RFL operating rules;
[url=http://www.therfl.co.uk/~therflc/clientdocs/Operational%20Rules%20Section%20A.pdftherfl.co.uk[/url
[iPITCH DIMENSIONS/PLAYING AREA
A2:9
... In any event, the minimum playing requirements are:
(a)
a clear playing area of not less than 88 metres from goal line to goal line and 55 metres from touch line to touch line;
(b)
that the dead ball line shall be not less than 6 metres nor more than 11 metres behind the goal line;
(c)
that there shall be a suitable clear margin of 3 metres along the touch lines and dead ball lines;
(d)
that there is a permanent solid barrier excluding the spectators from the playing area.
Where the achievement of A2:9 (a) and (b) above can only be achieved to the exclusion of A2:9 (c) then for the avoidance of doubt and as a temporary measure only the pitch should be marked to ensure that there is a clear margin of 2 metres with the distance between the dead ball line and the goal line reduced accordingly. Where the playing area is larger than the minimum specified above and the ground otherwise fulfils requirements it shall not be reduced[/i
So by my reckoningVP would be fine pitch wise short term as the RFL would approve the "tempory measures" to shorten some of the distances - as they did last time.

No worries, yes the ingoal last time was only about 2 or 3m and then straight into the advertising boards, and we shortened the "10m" from the 50 to the 40 so it wasn't the full 10.
I remember one of our first games at VP after some snow and frost and a few players sliding into the advertising boads through the ingoal area. The pitch is not ideal but I'm certain the RFL would allow it again.

That was always a worry at VP. A player chasing a ball to the back of the in-goal is only a couple of feet away from, not just the boards, but the very solid wall they are fastened to. This very clear danger to players, plus the obvious fact that the RFL are trying to get all clubs to have a full 100m between the posts, has always been my big concern with the ground.

| behind the goals at Valley parade the advertising boards are free standing and not attched to the wall. the wall is a couple of metres further back.
that is also the case down the east side (midland road). however, on the main stand side the adverts are mounted on the wall.
the main objection is that there isnt the 3 metres clearance around the pitch.
many Sl and other pro and semi pro RL pitches shorten the area between the 40 meter line and the next line. there is no such official marking of a 30 meter line. there should be a line 20 metres from the goal line, and another 10 metres from half way.

| As an fan who travels to almost every Wigan away game I hated Valley Parade.
We were sat almost at boot level in seats with very little legroom (and I'm only 5' 8"icon_wink.gif
We couldn't find any decent pubs near the ground, much prefer Odsal and the Red Lion on Manchester Road.
