But of course, we've never had a sensible practicable answer to that, have we, given its a completely thankless unpaid job requiring a lot of personal input and worry - and for what at the end?

I suppose it is a possibility, although the noises in the media from the players is that team spirit is good in camp. Whether you can rely on that being 100% truthful is open to debate. I've just about had my fill of inept performances though this year.
