Plenty of clubs were chasing him before he went to Cas after him impressing at Keighley.
These young, hungry players that can develop while the team/club does are exactly the type of business that I think we should be doing.

Is that now 25? Including three, technically 12 month loans, but who could actually disappear at any time after the first month.

Personally, I think the squad is still a little on the light side, but I'll accept JK's idea that we see how we go with what we've got and keep whatever 'powder' we have got dry until any weaknesses become apparent. As I've said before, I'm pretty cool about the odd loanee but I don't want to be depending on them to put a team on the field, like we were for virtually all last season. Let's hope we don't suffer too many injuries, though five friendly fixtures, which I can understand will be good for the coach to 'get to know' what he's got, but definitely leaves us a hostage to fortune in the injury stakes. Fingers crossed..

25 Players including 3 loanees. In my opinion we're light in the centres and the backrow. We also need a bit of cover at halfback. It's clear we do need to recruit 4 or 5 players that are proper 1st teamers not loan kids or U19s filling in here or there. However now that Kear is in charge I'm happy to let him take as long as he likes to bring the right blokes in. He's the expert and is used to getting a lot out of very little like he did at Batley. I hope his appointment has attracted a bit more money into the club to allow him to do a few deals. It's a shame it's quite late in the day as most players will be signed up but we are where we are.

I expect the U19s to get a lot of gametime in the friendlies given that we certainly won't be wanting to put players like Chisholm and Keyes out in all of them with them recovering from injury. We have 2 or 3 in the 19s that could make the step up if brought along gently but I certainly hope we avoid slinging them in on mass to get bullied like last year.

Facebook had us linked with Joel Monaghan at Cas. He may be getting on but I think he could do a job for us on the wing and cover centre depending on if we can afford him.

Agreed. I think the outside backs need a couple more players and I would like to see a decent fullback come in too to compliment Chisholm and Keyes. Moss maybe? Wishful thinking I know. Then Ryan can cover there if there is an injury. If we get Monaghan I'd say Centre is covered with him, Bustin, Oakes, Gibson and Smith (Halafihi did well there last season too). I'd like to see an out and out winger come in to complement Ryan and Rickett.



I really hope Pickersgill, Storton, Rickett, Butterworth and especially Wilson get a lot of gametime. I feel these 5 will be the ones to play more during the season so I'd like to see them prepared. Very much like Kirk in last seasons friendlies. Butterworth can cover halfback too.

I still feel like we are missing another Prop though.

Wouldn't mind seeing your lad fill in there alongside Keyes (when he's back fit). For a few friendlies. Played at 6 before hasn't he? Could be cover there for the season if we do lose a half.
