There was no fall out with Aston. Aston had to sack him for what he did

Happy to be corrected Roger- I'm aware you have accurate knowledge of the Eagles.
I was basing my comment on the sentence in the Total RL which said
"He subsequently joined Sheffield, and although he impressed in his handful of appearances for the club, he reportedly suffered a fall-out with coach Mark Aston and was told he was free to leave."

Apologies if I'm coming across as " I know and nobody else does", I'm not trying to be like that. When Sheffield say that he's gone I can say a bit more

| Much as I enjoyed watching Dane last year, not convinced this is the best use of what must be a tight playing budget. As someone highlighted, take Larroyer, Murray and Moore out of our pack as could conceivably happen in the next few days/weeks, we are extremely light in terms of numbers and experience. Hope I'm proved wrong, but with Dane & Phoenix in the squad, lots of flair and skill but the big guys give the flair guys the time and space.
And.... before anyone says this, I have no idea where we would permanently recruit some forwards, but after Easter and as clubs are knocked out of the cup, hopefully some could be available

Absolutely no need to apologise - Never crossed my mind.
It's obvious you will know more about the Eagles than anyone on here and equally obvious you treat that inside knowledge with respect and caution.
Incidentally - I thought you were a bit over- critical of your son's performance yesterday!

| Unless I'm missing something here, Dane Chisholm can win a match on his own with his off the cuff play, I believe he will take a lot of pressure off the forwards by keeping them on the front foot, and to add to his bag of tricks he can score plenty of tries, he will wins us games this year, and after all this is what we need to do

Sounds like what i heard on the terrace could be correct.
Looks like Lilley is definitely going back to Leeds for Easter so getting Chisholm would be a huge boost as Leon can't do both games.

I can be a bit critical simply cos I know he can play a lot better. He played very well week before against London and the team played a lot better as well. Against London they got the ball out early to big Menzie and he caused lots of problems, can't remember them doing much of that yesterday

| If Lilley is going back to Leeds the need for a halfback was by far the most pressing issue. No way could Leon play both games on his knees.
Chisholm may be a bit of a maverick but he's easily the best available. Hopefully it'll be confirmed officially.
The need for forwards remains - hopefully the issue with visas might see us bring in some antipodeans soon.

| He can as has been said be a bit of a maverick, Rohan acknowledged this as a price to be paid as he can be a match winner, Toovs as a coach is more of a tougher task master and would expect a better disciplined approach and Team ethic without stiffling his creativity, an interesting plate spinning analogy, if he does return I hope he can work well within the frmework now in place!

I think playing Ethan at centre, whether the intention was to keep Yere 'quiet' or not, was a master stroke. Ethan may have missed a couple of tackles when he broke the line, but even then he was near enough to disrupt the play, so mission accomplished. His defence in general against Yere was almost Scott Naylor like and I can't give higher praise than that. So, not so much that your lad didn't have a good game Roger, more that it was wasted when the man he passed to was closed down.

| Could this be the start of Ethane move to centre?
Those that watch the academy will know wether or not he played there in his junior days.
Anybody know if those at the club see him at centre long term?

| Chisholm is a SL quality halfback and if we can do a reasonable deal, we'd be mad not to. What a great signing from young Keyes' perspective too. Amazing if this comes off.

| Ethan was a centre originally IIRC. He did well against Yere on Sunday as Bulliac said. Even though he flew out of the line sometimes and got knocked off he did enough to stop the threat each time.
Slightly more concerning was Oakes and Caro's partnership. A few times when we were rocking Oakes's opposite number just ran past him without a finger being laid on him.

And more often than not, Caro wandered inside leaving Blackmore totally open on his wing. Caro's positioning on the wing is bloody awful too often.

I think it was Jake Spedding (on loan from Saints?) TBF i think he would have skinned most people, the guy was lightening. Oakes hasn't let anyone down defensively so i'll count it as a one off.

| Caro's defence was pitiful all afternoon - for such a big unit he needs to impose himself more in defence and attack.

| I'd always go Campbell and Smith on one wing,
Ryan and Oakes on the other.. that's if you play Thomas at Fullback.
Keeping Macani as far away from the field as is humanly possible.

With everyone fully fit, that is surely the first choice option. Anything else with current squad is nuts.
Phoenix may work his way in there if he turns out to actually exist, but having not seen him play, I couldn't possibly say if he's in or not.

Been impressed with Oakes so far so it was a surprise to see someone go around him a couple of times. I’m sure it’ll get picked up on video so it would be a useful experience for him to learn how to deal with an opponent with real pace. Oakes’s strengths seem to be his power and his step off the left foot. He’s a decent pass too and can get his winger away. I’d like to see him work on his fend as in the centres with a bit of space this can buy you valuable time and space. All the best centres I’ve seen had a good hand off (Hanley, Iro, Newlove etc, even Keith Lulia had a good one).

| Haven't seen anybody complain about Oakes defence thos season until now. Was it Oakes or was it Caro?
Could it be a case of not knowing his wingman?
