I agree, but I am concerned by our lack of experienced halves, Briggs and Herbert are unproven and whilst Kearney does a SL standard job at 6, it is obvious it isn't his best position.
I'd still like to see us sign an experienced half, to help bring on these excelent young players we have.
I can't help thinking the club are trying to mould Addy into a 6 given our strength in the backrow.

All good news! Welcome aboard Kyle.
"The veteran Aussie will likely finalise a move to Canberra Raiders within the next 24 hours, clearing the path for boss Mick Potter to further add to his squad."
"Featherstone stand-off Kyle Briggs is set to become the 11th once personal terms have been agreed. A fee has already been negotiated for the 23-year-old, who has a year left on his existing contract, and Bradford are hopeful of pushing a deal through before the players depart for warm-weather training in Lanzarote on Thursday."
"Leon Pryce remains high on the wish-list despite St Helens’ apparent (un)willingness to sell and there is lingering hope a deal can be done at some point this year, if not before the season opener on February 13."

| The NRL and Mimis could learn a thing or two from that article, specifically the lines confirming that a fee has already been negotiated with the club to whom Briggs is currently contracted before we started making press announcements.

I wouldn't expect that. Not given his age and that we're paying a fee for him. If he was the same age as, say, Southernwood, then yeah, maybe give him another year to help him develop at a lower level than SL but a higher level than the academy.
But Briggs I'd expect to come straight into the first team. Would put us as 3 half backs for the start of the season. An improvement over last year when we started the season with 1 half back.

Yeah, surprise, we have got money. Despite what morons on here will tell you about how terrible Bradford's finances are.
Thought where did you get THAT as a figure?

Not according to the Fev fans...
See here for the "quarter of a million package" they refer to for the Hardaker and Briggs transfers..

They claim that Hardaker went for £100,000 so that must make Briggs a 150k player

We only paid £100,000 for Solomona and he was an international. My guess is it being an undisclosed fee with some Featherstone supporters claiming it to £100k+ while Bradford supporters will say £50/£60k.

| selling clubs fans always claim they got an unrealistically high figure whilst buying clubs fans always under estimate amount they've paid. Reality is somewhere in the middle. All the clubs usually say is undisclosed fee. I'd guess a realistic figure would be 50k and a friendly at fev for next year or two with them keeping all the gate receipts. If Fev fans want to think they got 150k let them, doesnt hurt us.

That would be another 30k/40k on top of the 50k.

I know but the draw of Bradford would bring the Featherstone supporters out in force meaning a gate of 2,000 would then give them around £30k if they we're to charge £13/£14 to get in.

| Having read the whole of this thread, the £150,000 mentioned was surely the amount that Cas paid Fev for Steadman back in the day. Someone has been sidetracked.

Er, no Mick.
2,000 @ 13 - VAT = £21.7k
Less additional stewarding and other variable costs, plus any incremental food/drink income accruing to the club not to third parties.
Wasn't exactly the world's biggest gate when we played them in the CC at their place a few years ago.
