Bringing Leon back a year early is a calculated risk (due to his year left at St Helens, which is the stumbling block at the minute between both clubs and player) but it's one worth taking if a deal can be struck with St Helens as he would attract the extra bums on the seats to make it a wise move IMO.

I think that it's a calculated risk worth taking in the long run.

Yes he may go playing hide and seek in the big games but his form this season for St Helens has been superb.

The club need a player like Pryce back at the club, someone who is symbol of the good years and still has plenty to offer to the club and game.

A player like Leon coming back would be a huge lift for the club.

I think 99% of Bulls fans want this deal to happen. It would certainly make Mr Bennett's job a little easier too! I'm surprised to hear we could have several more new faces to come in yet too. I kind of assumed we might have 1 maybe 2 more to come, unless there is still a couple of departures to announce?

Mick i asked hobby when you started this thread and he denied any knowledge. He also said neither you,pryce or indeed any bulls players were in the pub on the night you claim.

£150k? for a player likely to be marginalized next season by the emergence of Lomax and Eastmond and who only has 12 months remaining on his contract? A contract which is probably a fair amount of Saints' salary cap and would possibily be better spent by Saints on tying their two home grown halves to long term deals?

Well, in terms of incentive, there's a chance he may miss the start of the season, which might put Simmonds off. Not even the most ardent of Saints fans knows what Simmonds wants when he comes here. Added to that the potentially exciting pairing of Lomax and Eastmond which worked very, very well towards the end of the season, and the fact Leon might want to leave, and you never know!

Possibly more accurate, but we've always managed to set aside cap space in the past without losing our best players at their peak.

The "local rag" correspondant has been pretty spot on with trailing whats happening before it does, he's clearly in regular contact with the club. Hes got enough right that he does not warrant accusations of just making it up. Now it could be that we are interested, have spoken/speaking to saints but it goes no further, but I'd say its not just made up. And I can't remember the last time the T&A just made up a transfer story. (Although the timing is rather convenient with the pledge deadline looming)

1) Any money would probably come directly from resolving the Orford situation, and your guess is equally as valid as my guess of say... £25K



2) None if he wants to stay, but plenty if he wants to go back to Bradford and your new coach likes the look of your understudies or wants to bring a new half in from Oz. All of which is guesswork from both sets of fans.

It might well not happen, I'd still have it down as a very long shot, but it can't be just dismissed out of hand just yet.

At the end of the day, if Leon did want a return to the Bulls I expect Saints WOULD be willing to listen to a sensible offer. If one of our players was keen to be elsewhere then I would expect the Bulls to take a similar approach. Obviously they will be after some sort of compensation, but I doubt it would be in the regions that some Saints fans are quoting.

my point is that we dont need to sell and you want to buy, so we can ask whatever we want, again were is the incentive for saints to sell him? our young 6's arent ready for it fulltime yet, Leon would be our first choice 6 next year without a shadow of a doubt

You've changed your tune. You said £200k earlier on the Saints board until I pointed out that with the same amount left on this contract, only £100k was paid for Sam Burgess. Saints will have their price no doubt. If it's more than £100k for someone who only has a year left on his contract though, and may well have told them that after that year, he intends on going anyway, then I'll be amazed.

As far as where we get the money from. If Matt Orford does indeed leave and sign for someone else, we're due compensation for that as he has 2 years left on his contract. Compensation may be him buying out of contract or it may be another club paying a transfer fee. Either way, we have a player who won the Dally M only 2 years ago, who has 2 years left on his deal. Do you not think that would be worth more than Pryce with 1 year left? Should cover it easily, yes?

As far as incentive for Saints to sell, as I have said, what if he's already told them he's going after his contract is up? It's been well documented that he would like to return to Bradford one day, so if he knows the opportunity is there when his contract is up, he may already have made his mind up. So Saints have the same incentive that Bradford had with Burgess. Either lose him for nothing in a year, or lose him now and get some brass for him.



Money now or no money in a year. That would be a fair incentive I'd say! (If the Price is right - no pun intended)

Bet you have not talked with the reporter on the "Local rag"? Or Followed his track record? He is a smart guy, trust me, and knows his credibility depends on him usually calling it right. As indeed he almost always does. On his twitter, he says he put the article together from a number of sources.

As for the funds? Things have changed quite a bit up at Odsal in recent months, indeed weeks. Its a rather different set-up now, with a board now of three full-time executive directors including a new marketing director who has been putting a lot of work into funds generation. You might be surprised.

Incentive? Dunno...but if Leon was to be headed this way anyway in 2012 on a long-term deal you could have the identical situation we had with a potentially disgruntled Sam Burgess.
