Didn't know you'd signed Noone, he was playing for Barrow last I heard.

In terms of what?
Langley is currently our longest serving player, he's a great influence to all our young players, plays 80 minutes every week and never less than 100% effort. He was far from his best last year, but with his shoulder op over and done with he looks back at his best.
Two different types of player imo, O'Loughlin has an eye for the try himself, can be creative but also gets through alot of work in defence. Langley is a workhorse who will never take a step backwards when driving the ball in, never stops tackling and can put in some great hits. I'm sure O'Loughlin's try & try assist stats will be alo more than Langley, but I would be willing to bet at the end of this season, Langley has more clean breaks, more tackles and more mpc.

His value to the Bradford side is immeasurable (as i'm sure is O'Loughlin's to Wigan), but I wouldn't swap him for any back-rower in the league. Maybe Anthony Watmough though

| I wouldn't have O'Loughlin anywhere near the Bradford team. He is slow, lacks creativity and is a penalty machine.
Good individual defender, but we have plenty of those.
I'm loving this thread. If the Wigan team think the same as the fans then it will be Bradford by 30.

Lacks creativity
The most creative loose forward in superleague in 2009 was.............Sean O'Loughlin.
The most creative loose forward in superleague so far in 2010 is.........Sean O'Loughlin.
He's our best player and the best loose forward in superleague along with Kevin Sinfield(another top player that people mock) and thats why every GB/England coach has picked one if not both of those in his side over the past 4 or 5 years.

Us fans may be a little over confidante, but there's no way the players will be. Anybody who's ever heard Shaun Wane or Michael McGuire speak will know that this Wigan side won't underestimate any opposition while their in control.

| Quote ="mystic eddie"In popular worldwide sports like football and dare I say it, Rugby Union, then fair enough, but in Rugby League that is a nonsense suggestion. Not enough people play it in order for there to be so many "world class" players.'"
Then that surely all depends on your definition of World Class. If only 1 person played the game then he would, by definition, be World Class as he'd be the best (and worst! ) playing the sport. Fewer players shouldn't impact on your definition of World Class. However, having had this debate on the Leeds board re: Sinfield, I'm in total agreement that it's a term bandied about far too often and far too easily.
I suggested the 'Wally Lewis' test (as I called it) as a good marker of true world class. Few people, if any, would argue that Lewis wasn't world class. Maybe only the players who engender this 'universal acclaim' should be considered worthy of the term. It's as good a system as any!

Same noises if you play your best Rugby League Football in February and March you won't make the Grand Final. Leeds and Saints are only four and two points respectively behind you and are winning games without setting the world alight.
It's all about timing you can peak too soon. Or so my ex. wife tells me.

I never had a definition of World Class, I merely stated that 10 players from each position being described as World Class is a nonsense when there are only two recognised leagues in the world.
However, for the record, Sean O Loughlin is [inot[/i my definition of World Class.

| Wigan are not Melbourne Storm either. They've played in the last four NRL Grand Finals and have won two. Wigan haven't been in a Grand Final since 2003 and haven't won one since 1998.

You really need to rein yourselves. Your wonder coaches have presided over 4 wins and that's it. A good start to the season but that's it. I'd wait until the end of the season before I start knocking one out over them if I were you.
I've heard of Shaun Wane, he was a distinctly average front rower who Monie dumped when it was apparent he wasn't up to standard. Since packing up playing he's become a coach but has little pedigree at the top level other than four wins as an assistant to a bloke who comes from a club who are world leaders in RL.

Wrong. You obviously havn't seen enough of how we have been playing.
As for saying Langley is better than Lockers, I seriously can't believe that. Lockers would have played in the 4 nations last year had he not got injured.
Lockers is also our longest serving player! Last season Lockers was miles better than Langley.
Currently Lockers is the better player. Whats the point in saying 'I bet he will have more this and more that' because right now he doesn't.

Quite. And just for the record I have predicted a Wigan win in my works tipping comp for this Friday, as they are the team on form and looking good. [iBut [/iit might well be closer than some of our Wigan friends on this thread and elsewhere think. And if the unthinkable happens, and the stars and planets align and we actualy sneak a clearly unwarranted win....well, this thread might be a good source of quotes for the weekend.
Looking forward to a good game and giving Deacs a great reception.

Well they have won their 4 opening games so that means they're the best team in the universe ever since those great Wigan teams of the early 90s.
I'm looking forward to seeing 10,000 Wigan fans on Friday all in their Wigan jerseys with "Norweb" on the front and sporting those lovely tasteful cherry and white ski jackets that were all the rage in the late 80s.
We should feel privileged to see WORLD CLASS talents like Cameron Phelps and Amos Roberts
All together now! Wiiiiiiiiiiiiigan! Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigan Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigan

Right now Langley does have more metres, tackles and mpc stat.
I said P'Loughlin was far better last season, but Langers played through it all with a shoulder injury and was playin in the 9th side in the competition. O'Loughlin was fully fit and played in a top 6 side, obviously he was bound to do better last year.
Let the stats speak for themselves at the end of the season.
