I'm glad I read this, it gives me chance to call my grandad and tell him that he best not go to the game this afternoon as he'll have nowhere to park his car, I guess he'll be surprised as he's done it without problems for 20 odd years since his motorbike got stolen from Odsal, but I don't want him to have a wasted trip.

The Dunny's parking, right over the road from the stadium, surely scores at least 9/10. Especially as after the game you don't have to "cross a road" as it becomes a closed "no-road" temporarily.
On the last "big new plan" they had for Odsal, they finally twigged that they could build perfect car parking at the SE of the stadium (Coral Stand end) and include a new link road to and from the M606, so traffic effectively came straight off and went straight back on to the motorway. Needless to say, as one of the best (and most obvious) ideas, it has rapidly bitten the dust.
Much as I hate VP, and the parking is as bad as it gets, I'd have to say any 'annoyed' residents. There is no resident alive who didn't move in knowing full well they were moving in next to a major football ground. On a much smaller scale, we have the same problem at Odsal. Some of them are that contrary, they seem to make a point of driving into Stadium Road, right when all the pedestrians and cars are leaving the stadium.

FFS, he means behind the City shop, directly behind the Kop - it's part of the stadium complex.

Seems you have missed the point. The residents don't have a problem with City fans and didn't have a problem with Bulls fans.
It was Bulls fans who had "issues" with the residents.

| Quote ="af"BM, I think you make some good points. However, I believe the situation boils down to this:

[*Bulls have no realistic means of developing the stadium without Council backing.[/*:m
[*It is in Bradford Council's interests to have the Bulls continue as a top flight rugby league club.[/*:m[/list:u
Do you disagree or take issue with any of the above statements? Should Bradford Council allow another of the city's sporting institutions go to the wall when we know that with the right facilities they can more than pay for themselves in the long run?'" .
I kind of accept what you are saying apart from possibly point 4.
I used to watch the Bulls regularly but gave up after all the garbage surrounding VP, the final straw coming when my mate was asked to sign the Try for Odsal petition at St Helens and when he said he'd prefer to stay at VP he was greeted with Eff Off Pa*i ( he was actually Indian ).
Anyway in answer to your question, I'm not sure but maybe .......
1. Lose the roof from the scheme and it may be financially viable.
2. The Bulls make a financial contribution to make up the shortfall.
One more question : How will the Bulls be able to afford the running of Odsal Stadium post OSV ( should it happen ). If they can't afford it now what's going to change in future ? Are they proposing to renew the terracing and other parts of the stadium as part of the project so the Bulls don't have to in the near future ? If so, what's the timeline for the next bout of finger pointing and blame shifting ?

How odd. Not only do you inexplicably opt to see some personal slight in a reply I made to someone else, you ALSO are the first person to start calling people names. And to a moderator no less.
All round it seems like you screwed up royally with that post; I'd rather you didn't do it again.

For the record, BISA never actually had a petition. Whoever your mate met were nothing to do with the survey I'm sure.

I meant the surrounding area of manningham.. particularly after the riots and the uneasiness at the time in those areas of bradford thanks to people who didn't live in the city.
and the petition for odsal is something you have made up.. it was something i went round getting before home games alongside handing out the try4odsal stuff (infact they were somewhere in the house at one point but we moved back to odsal before i managed to do anything with them) so i doubt they got that considering i was an extremely young lass back then at 14 with my dad walking around behind me, i'd have been shot (by him) if i had said anything like that!!

Liane, it was said by a bloke in passing as they moved on and he wasn't alone. It was at half time while he was queuing for something to eat.
Andrea it may suit to think I'm making it up because it's rather unpleasant but I'm not, it's not trivial enough to make up certainly not for me. My Indian friend still attends and is a steward at homes games at Odsal.
Oh and I never said it was anyone from BISA, bearing in mind both he and I knew a couple of people from BISA we'd have mentioned it. I don't know who they were.

Well considering I was the only one asking people to sign and i didn't get round that many people - most of my signatures i got were from online?? surely then this would have been something i myself would have heard since i would have asked said person to sign it??
And where did you sit if it was at half time getting something to eat at VP, as you would have had to have been in the same stand as me.

I did say that it was at St Helens ( ie away ). He was asked to sign a petition to move back to Odsal and he said he'd prefer to stay at VP. What was said was said by a bloke.

Sorry BM, but the inference you gave was that the person asking for a signature was the one who said something abhorent and distasteful hence people being unable to believe what you said as we know most of the people involved.
Anyway, I for one quite liked VP & never had any problems when we went there. Much of the moaning I heard about the stadium was the fact they could not stand up - I do not think this is as much of an issue given the increasing number of all-seater stadiums we now have in RL.
However, you should remember that the majority of the Bulls games took place on Fri/Sat/Sun evenings, as opposed to the majority of City's matches taking place on a Sat/Sun afternoon. Manningham is a completely different kettle of fish on an evening (especially at 10pm) then it is on an afternoon, especially for those of us with young ones. Don't forget that a good proportion of our support was (and still is) made up of families, which made for a completely different dynamic from City's (and football's) normal audience. Having to walk around Manningham at that time of night, in poorly lit conditions certainly put off quite a few families I know from going.
It would be interesting to see what peoples reactions would be if we had to move to VP but played the majority of games on a Sun afternoon?
I now believe that the Bulls only have 2 options - move in WITH City at VP or look to secure a partner and build their own stadium away from Odsal (and Bradford?) - easy to say, much harder to make happen!!!!!! I am now certain that absolutely nothing will happen if they have to rely on the Council.

| Couldn't City and the Bulls build a joint stadium in the centre of Bradford? After all the council has done a pretty good job of clearing the shops.

Hmm. Fair enough.
I also don't recall really doing much at away games and Saints i certainly wouldn't have done much for it as a lot of my friends are saints fans - it being the only time i saw them i tended to spend most of my time catching up with them, and my then bf was a saints fan and we swapped which set of supporters we stood with at hlf time.
And i agree with pretty much what Cookie said.
