It is a crap time for an away fixture v London. As usual, the fans come last.

Not unless there is a rare celestial event whereby we don`t get a full moon between the back end of March and July

I just had a quick look at Harlequin's home fixtures (at present)- mainly Saturdays, a few Sundays, one Monday (Easter) and one Friday (us).

I have no idea why. Maybe tit for tat (very shortsighted businesswise if correct). There has to be another event on either at Twickenham or in the area on Sat.

This is a real shame because it would have been good to have a summer weekend in London wrapped around a game of rugby. Whilst I could probably manage to get there in time, my wife would have to use up holiday to get away and that is a bit excessive. Although we do it for the Catalans game so maybe...

When they are a home game on Sky it tends to be the Saturday anyway

I've been to Quins/London every year for about 8 on the trot now. I won't be going this year if it stays on the Friday night, as I don't intend on paying for a hotel room and I don't want to be getting home at daft o'clock on Saturday morning. Nor am I taking the Friday off work in order to travel down there.

If they move it to a weekend afternoon, I'll go.

I have posted on the Quins board about this and some of the respondents don't seem to give a $hit about the away fans. Ive been every year (on occasion twice in some years including the aborted attempt last feb) but I am so fed up about it I am not sure I will be going again. Until I calm down anyway.

I think Quins want to try a Friday night game and bad luck for you they have picked the Bulls game. Still I use up a lot of holiday going to al the Friday night games we have up North. Motorways including the M25 aren't to bad easrly Sat morning!

Why don't they try it for someone who would not bring any fans? There is two teams that srping to mind...

Huddersfield clearly being one, so did you mean Crusaders or Catalans along with them?

They should have tried it with Hull KR, since as all the world knows they always take 327,000 to any away game regardless...

Ok for me - living in Bicester now so easy trip for me and get home in decent time. But still hoping to get to Saints opener this year as well

Oh FFS lighten up, both sets of supporters missed what else was happening in sport that weekend.

Oh well at least we'll not have the only three men and a dog turn up at Quins thread or the I can believe they are playing the same day as the World Cup Final...

So there is some law saying that the Quins game has to kick off at EXACTLY the same time as the World Cup Final (whatever that is) is there? It could kick off after? On the other day? Make an event of it - the WCF on a big screen for dull people to watch before the game?
Or lets just make excuses...

Out of interest (not trolling or anything here), the World Cup Final will be on the sunday, is there a reason it can't be played on the Saturday? (I appreciate the Union lot might be playing or there might be another event, just thought the Quins folk would be better informed on this).

If there is a reason, fair enough, I'd maybe agree a Friday would be a better option, as I know I'll be watching the World Cup Final (although I wouldn't miss my club's home game for it, I may miss an away match). If there isn't a reason though, why not play it on the Saturday and solve all the problems?

Having now looked at the fixture - we would clash with the 3rd/4th playoff on Saturday - whoop-de-do. One of the most pointless fixtures in any regular world event ever played on the planet Earth

But again, it could be played after, if people deem it necessary to watch.

I knew about that, but ignored it. I love the World Cup and end up watching almost every game, but the 3rd Place Playoff is so insignificant it's unreal. There's never any interest in it unless your own team is there, and even then, nobody is that bothered.

That certainly wouldn't be a reason, so I assume something else is happening at the Stoop on the day. Either that or a big match at Twickenham?

Ah but I remember us playing in it in 1990 against Italy. Nobody was bothered about it then. Not even the manager, who put out all the players who hadn't played much in the tournament. It's pretty much the same as a friendly game. But then, Quins have a habit of moving Super League games because of friendlies don't they?
