Anyone bothered if he doesn't play?

Of course he should play when he is fully fit.He has been one of our better players all year often carrying Deacon.He is still contracted and deserves to be playing at the top level.

TBH I'd much rather have Jefferies and Sykes at 6 & 7 than Deacon

19 of our tries this season have been because of Jefferies, and as we've not scored huge amounts this year it'd be foolish to not have a player that can set up tries on the field

Just about to say that his "try assists" stat is pretty awesome for a team outside the top 8!

I think everyone except McNamara and Deacon would prefer that.

I have long admired Thorman & hope he re-discovers the form that made him an international. Though, TBF, he was never the best SH/SO in last 100 years for Sheffield/London/Parramatta/Huddersfield/Hull.

You've included the same team twice. I assume because he had two spells?

None of those Clubs are 100 years old


Sheffield - Started in the 80's by Gary Hetherington
London - Fulham were the first in 80's
Parramatta - founded in 1947
Huddersfield - see above
Hull - Gateshead thunder started in 1999

I think the main problem with Jeffries is the way that he seems to drift out games easily, especially when things aren't going his way. There's actually been a few games where I've had to check to see if he's even on the field

Until he can stamp his authority on games, literally 'take a game by the scruff of the neck' then he'll always be a bit of luxury player to me - someone who'll occasionally do something really good, or score a great try, but doesn't really do a proper playmaker job for the team.

Now this may be something to do with the overall shape of the team or the tactics employed. I don't think it helps him that Deacon isn't anywhere near the level he used to be - so he's often getting scrappy passes or being put into situations where he's too much under pressure. If he was playing outside a really good scrum half he might look better as a No 6?

Don't forget that BJ is primarily a scrum half, not a stand off, and has therefore been playing out of position ever since he joined our club.
Those few games when Deacon was injured and BJ moved to seven showed just how much of a difference it makes - he was a far more influential player in those matches.

I still can't quite believe we're about to let BJ go and keep playing Deacon at 7, everybody can see that Deacs is past it now and I can't see us ever progressing as a club while he is still on the pitch.

Unfortunately yes, but that doesn't mean he can't spend a bit of time on the bench.
