doesnt help that its a tv game really. The undecided will use last weeks performance combined with loss of orford as an excuse to watch it in pub. We really need some good news in next couple of days (as hinted at in connor murphys tweet) to give us a boost. Can see it being not much more than us season ticket holders plus the 1000 or so wire will bring so about 7-7.5k.

I'd guess good news is langley/menzies re-signing and southernwood in line for debut at weekend. connor murphys hinted in his tweet that its one expected bit of good news and something hinted at. The re-signing is the expected bit and macca hinted southernwood was close to a debut a week or so back.

personally think getting langley tied down to a 3yr+ deal is slightly more important for the long term future of club than menzies for a year but I'd take both.

If it's Sheriffe re-signing thats more bad news.

I think the ticket offer might be a minor sucess as otherwise this would be a really low attendance. I've been on the phone today to buy tickets for friends and family attracted by the cheap tickets. My dad is going to his first game in about three years so hopefully that is a fair indication.

On the Southernwood point above Macca did mention him on Radio Leeds and suggested that he is in his thoughts so might make his debut.

He also said that Orford had played through immense pain in the cup match and is gutted to miss the rest of the season. He described the suggestion that he's home sick and not necessarily commited to the club as "criminal". So there you have it.

Cant make it this week. Off to Filey.

The Club needs to get the Marketing Dept into overdrive, get some positive news out. We don't want to keep hearing Langley or Orford might be back only to find them missing on Game day. Tell us we have a quality Coach lined up and name him, tell us we have a loan player and parade him in front of the cameras. The Coaching Staff need to get the Players up for the remaining games and start playing with pride. Also we don't want Langers and Lynch dragged back into action to early, get them sorted and fit first. Get Southernwood and the Burgess's ready to throw in if needed. We need to see some effort and quality and a couple of home wins wouldn't go amiss!

It could be a mauling, or it might not, but that could be the case even if they were 100% interested, couldn't it, with the injuries we have? Some of them gave that appearance some of the time last game, but that's wildly OTT isn't it?

Or if it is true, then how would you describe the interest/attitude of the other half of teams in the table that are actually below our totally disinterested bunch? Are they even more disinterested?

And most of all, do you have short term memory loss? If not, I would be fascinated to know how you explain the heroic performance against the same team just a short few weeks ago in the Cup? Or were they interested then, but their interest has for some reason lapsed?

And that performance came with relatively little influence by a clearly injured Orford. So hopefully they can kick on from THAT performance

if the team was interested why have we let over 100 points past us in the last 2 games???? we are a much better team than that... we cant use injuries as a excuse im afraid. look at leeds with the injuries they had, yet still manage to show passion and pride and come through games. Yes we have got big injuries with lynch, langley, orford not playing BUT still you have to say that apart from whitehead, menzies, platt, none of them look interested to play for the club. the sooner macca goes the better. oh and by the way are you still wanting your bf sheriffe to stay??? hes really good isnt he???

using Leeds as a comparison for covering injuries is misleading. Aside from the long term stable first team they have a recent record of producing quality from their academy pushing for first team spots anyway and thus can better cover absences. Currently a number of our quality academy players are (or were) playing in the first team anyway. Hopefully this will change as the youth recruitment and training process works its way through but it will still take a couple of years before we are in the same position as Leeds.

That said we've struggled to show the mental strength to dig games out over the last couple of years but fragile confidence doesn't mean they aren't trying.

Its easy to support a winning team (as the excellent wire fans will demonstrate in droves on Sat)
...But IMHO its much more important to support your own team when they are struggling, however difficult it seems at times.

However badly they seem to be struggling, they are still my team. So I'll still be there to support them when I can, inc Sat.

True. Not the last few decades, just a couple of games. Before that, we had clawed our way even up to 4th or 5th in the league despite everything, and should have been in the Cup semis. But I should make allowances; when you're 12, then I expect 2 games seems like an eternity. Almost half your summer holidays.

For the record, I was very critical of Sheriffe when he first joined us, because unlike you I can watch a game and a player without a jaundiced and blinkered eye, and unlike you I can keep an open mind. He is hardly the world's best winger, but I have given him plenty of credit due to the fact that he has worked exceptionally hard, has improved a great deal, and has in fact played well. Sure, he isn't ever going to be world class, but you imply that he is useless, when clearly, he is not. He deserves his place.
