| Best to have a look at the last few games for Halley catching on the full.
Had to feel for Platty after the performance against Saints.

| I'm sure this will turn into a Platt hating thread, not helped by the thread title. (which has now been changed!!!)
Anyway Platt was doing well and he looked our best player for a couple of games, Halley then came back off loan and Platt got moved to centre, a position I believe he hasn't played in years. It didn't start off well but then he put in a good performance again against Saints, he did however miss out on Saturday.
Halley has been poor in my eyes, his attacking play is good as always but his tackling is poor, especially when he is the last man, I've noticed in the last couple of games more than ever he is getting simply trampled over! Oh and as already said check out his catching in the last couple of games.

| Platt's been playing really well, when selected, a lot of time out of position at centre. I don't think "Platt the pr8t" is called for btw.

I know what you're getting at but thats not the right sequence to fill someone in on whats happened to Platt;
Halley was recalled and started a few games from the bench impressing each time he came on. Platt was dropped to the bench for the Leeds game after the catalan cup debacle (he was ill in the lead up to the Leeds game IIRC) where he was an unused sub. He then came of the bench at Wakey in the centre following the season ending injury to crookes. With us having no left for the wire game he played in the where he had an absolute shocker (but then so did most of the others). He kept the slot for the Saints game where he did very well indeed considering its not his prefered position, he was then dropped from the squad altogether for the Murryfield match which might seem harah but we had our first choice partnership back fit and was the correct call IMHO.
Platt was playing well in a poor team early on this season only making the odd mistake that all FB's make from time to time and his critcs this year were unfairly hammering any little mistake because of his reputation from last year. (the catalan error was a shocker though.) His problem is that since he left the FB position the team has put some results together, the two things might not be linked but it wont help him get back in the team as Halley has done nothing to suggest he needs dropping from FB.

Not seen one myself before but plenty against Platt, I like both of them myself and hate it when our fans get on either of their backs, the last thing a player running low on confidence needs is their own fans throwing insults at them.

You don't see his inability to tackle when it matters as a problem? He's only a small lad so I'm not expecting him to make crunching tackles on a player weighing several stone more than him but he needs to do something about his tackling if he ever wants to be a great fullback.

| Halley has beenfar more reliable IMO than Platt was yes he has made mistakes but i feel a lot mopre secure with him at fullback, as for him getting trampled did you not see the tackle at MM where he held the guy up?? or the tackle on mozza at the game we would all like to forget?

Not much between them for me although in a way I feel more secure with Halley but only because I felt nervous everytime Platt did anything because of the noises our fans made!
The tackle at MM, I presume you mean the one where Halley and Scruton held the guy up over the line? and yes I saw the other tackle, both good tackles but he needs to be more consistent. If Halley works on his tackling, (hitting low rather than grabbing men 5 stone heavier than him round the shoulders!) he will be a great fullback and I certainly hope he does as he seems a great lad.

Halley is far from the perfect FB I'll agree, but then we have been spoilt over the recent past with our FB's. He has problems but none that I would say need him dropping for as overall he has had a positive impact on the team IMO, but then I wouldn't have dropped Platt either as I thought others were playing worse than Platt, he did excellent at Cas for example the week before the cup car crash, so what do I know?? (answers on the back of a postage stamp please )

| Halley will never be a great FB, he is simply not big enough. Platt has all the necessary physical attributes, it's the mental side he needs to sort.

Halley is about the same size as Brent Webb and Halley's pace means that he consistently finds gaps on kick returns and marks more ground before the defensive gets up to him.
Platt isn't as bad as people make out and one day once he gets his head straight might be a decent player but at the moment he is behind Halley and I can't see that changing.

Webb has much more in attack, not necessarily direct pace. He does tend to have a better defence in front of him than Halley which disguises his own vulnerability in defence.

| Halley originally got put there because Platt had an absolute shocker, he played a brilliant game against Leeds and hasn't had too many errors since. Platt played well in centre, but I can't see him getting in again unless Halley gets really off form or if somebody is injured.

| Consensus of opinion seems to be to have Halley at FB (with which I agree at the moment).
However, where does this leave Platt?
Centre? Certainly at the moment PS & CN would be my first choice.
Wing? He certainly wouldn't get in ahead of Semi, maybe ahead of Rikki?
After signing him for three years, there must be some confidence in his ability to play somewhere.

| I hope somebody wants him in this off season and agrees to be released. Once Sheriffe's ball handling gets better he'll be good there, apart from that he's been doing ok.

Comes with experience of playing in that position. Knowing where to position yourself, running good lines and popping up at the right time in support. Halley will learn all this over time.

utility back? can play to a reasonalble standard at fullback and so a handy player to have in squad to cover injuries if not necessarily a first choice starter. gives us competition for places if nothing else.

Well, he's not too much worse than Platt and room for improvement. You can't fault his effort though, what about when he stopped Adrian Morley well into the Warrington thrashing.

But that doesn't alter the fact that Maury, Meli, Pryce, JD. JJB have all trampled him these last few games.
